My wife and I went to this place after I asked a New York City policeman for a good place to eat; they recommended Carmine's. The food was great and plentiful. There was plenty of food left over after we both ate from one "family'' plate. Make sure to get plenty of bread; it was tasty and a doggie bag.

Amazing food served family style. Portions are huge, there were 7 of us. We started with a cold antipasto and garlic bread. Had the chicken parmigiano and a pasta dish that was a special. We had some leftover to take home. The canolis were outstanding and the fresh fruit platter delicious.

Carmine's is not the fanciest or most unique NYC restaurant but it is a good value for Midtown, especially if you have picky teenagers like me. They like pasta and bread, but not the more upscale dishes at the fancier restaurants, so for our family Carmine's works great. We had the garlic and oil angel hair and chicken saltimbocca which... Really good Americanized Italian in very large portions for family style dining. Sharing is essential. Atmosphere is almost always loud and place is usually crowded with long waits. Eating at the bar can be a good option if you can get a seat.

We were going to Johns Pizza before seeing Aladdin and it was closed for a private event. So we went down the street and found Carmine's. We were only a group of 2 but chose to eat here anyway, the wait was 20 minutes but it was worth it. When we sat down the service was very fast. Only ordered... More

We booked Carmines in midtown for a family style rehearsal dinner for 35. The atmosphere was warm and inviting in our semi- private space. We felt very much welcome and at home. The servers were always present and attentive, but unobtrusive. They discreetly handled dietary restrictions that went beyond our expectations. We expected plenty of good food. What we found... More

Lots of food, somewhat flavourful but too salty. Meatballs are good. Just OK. Very large portions, good for sharing. Each dish will feed 3/4 people.

Went here twice on a recent trip to NY, once for dessert and once for dinner. The place has huge portions of good quality food and nice service. Because of the portion size you will feel decadent. Enjoy the decadence. The atmosphere is warm and raucous with friendly staff. You feel welcome. Our first visit was for dessert and coffee... More

Considering high average rating, we had good expectations. Wine list was kind of okay for the central Manhattan location ( house Montepulciano was good, but really pricy at $48/bottle). Fried calamari were well done, not too much breading, tasty sauce, however salted unevenly. Special green salad was also okay. However, the pasta special - a dish containing 4 different pastas...
