Very Pleasantly Surprise

I have to admit, I went to Carmines with low expectations. I thought it would be touristy, over rated, mediocre Italian food. I didn't read any reviews as it was the pick of a large group I was with and I wasn't paying the bill so wasn't going to complain. But the food was really excellent and came... read more

Left the restaurant with mix feelings. Large servings, avg to poor service, Outstanding chicken wings for appetizers and avg veal parmegiana with pasta. Not sure I'll return.

When ever my family comes to visit we come to Carmine's. Our favorite dishes are the Caesar salad, Carmines salad, Calamari, chicken Marsala and salmon oreganata. We are a family of 4 and always have left overs. We usually end up spending less and getting more than we would at other restaurants.

We had lunch in this restaurant. We were told about the size of the dishes but were still surprised when the waiter produced them. A portion is enough for 2 good eaters and 3 small eaters. Our pasta was a bit overcooked but overall it was a good experience with a good service.

Decided on Carmines for dinner after reading all the great reviews. We ordered the ceaser salad & meatballs for main. Ceaser salad was a joke. It was just a large plate of lettuce and croutons completely covered in dressing for $26.50. It was overpriced for something that had no meat in it. The meatballs were also poor. It was a... More

Carmines is a big, busy Italian restaurant. Staff (as expected of America) are very professional and attentive. This is a relaxed, casual place, full of mixed diners (young couples, families and over 70's). There are plenty of locals dining here as well as tourists. Food portions are enormous, one plate of pasta is plenty for two and there is also... More

Always a line to get in - but worth the hour wait (with a great vodka martini to pass the time).....fantastic service and ambiance with food to match....Carmine's stays consistent with its reputation.....

We've been there in a group of 6. We ordered 2 entrees and they were more than enough: very good food, reasonable prices and the service was great. The waiter was in an excellent mood. We would definitely go back and recommend.

You like good Italian food and have a large appetite, then Carmine's is the place for you! Bring some friends along because they serve the food "family style" on large platters. All the dishes we ordered had great flavor and variety. The atmosphere and service matched the quality of the meal. It will be on our favourites list for sure

Good Italian food in this theater district restaurant. Big bar area for waiting on your table. I had the seafood diavalo and it was decently spiced. Huge dish. Good wine selections and reasonably priced. I would go back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
