Cozy indeed!

My husband and I were showing a good friend from California around the Village when we realized that we hadn't had lunch and it was late in the afternoon - what to do? Luckily, we spotted this place, a real old-fashioned no-nonsense establishment with a huge diner-like menu. I had a soaring roast... read more

Nice to get yelled at by grumpy "maitre' d". 9:15 PM and the restaurant half full. I was dining solo and the grumpy guy seating me insisted on putting me at an uncomfortable table for 4 in that back instead of a small booth that looked like it only comfortably fit 2. He said it was "Dinner Time" so i... More

I'm new to this neighborhood, but everyone told me that Cozy's is an institution beloved, or at least pleasingly familiar in the East Village. So I gave it a try. And another. And another. I've eaten there three times in the past two months and they have yet to get my order right. The food is passable, it's cleaner than... More

Went for lunch the Caesar salad just okay. The salami sandwich did not taste like salami more like bologna.

We stopped off here for late night dinner and enjoyed our meal. The NYU is near by and there seemed to be a steady flow of students looking for late night food so even though late the place was busy but this did not distract from the service which was polite and prompt. The food was plentiful and tasty and... More

This is just like the diners you see on TV. The food is freshly cooked in front of you. Reasonably priced and good service! Highly recommended!

We were in a hurry as we had tickets to a show and so we sat at the counter and they were busy. We ended up chatting to our two servers and once we actually had good conversation the whole experience improved from rushed to enjoyable. We'd go again felt like it could become familish

A downtown staple whenever we are back in the city. Burgers are huge and cooked 'under the dome' which keeps them juicy and delicious. Simply the best pea soup to be found ANYWHERE!

Great fresh food cooked to order with lots of homemade favorites. We had rice pudding that was great. Milk shakes were great too. Pea Soup was very flavorful and hot for a cold evening. Old building but the food and the welcome made up for it. Great place to take children as there was lots of variety of foods so... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
