Old school diner

Stopped in for a quick lunch durning a visit to the Village area. The sign says since 1972and the decor reflects just that. A huge selection of burgers which were generous & hand pressed. They have old style hand mixed milk shakes which went perfectly with the burgers. Prices were decent. Would... read more

A miserable rainy afternoon in NYC found us in this place, in the absence of anything we could see in the immediate vicinity. The waiter was a brusque older man who didn't pass any pleasantries whatsoever. The spinach pie took some ploughing through and my husband had French onion soup, scrambled eggs, bacon and fries. Nothing at all spectacular. Poor... More

On vacation, I like to have a leisurely breakfast with my coffee refilled without asking. Cozy is perfect!! Had breakfast there 3 times recently and enjoyed it each time. To me its classic with the interior and waiters prob the same as when it opened in 1972. Obviously a family affair with the "Mom" on the cash register and "Pop"... More

Nice to get yelled at by grumpy "maitre' d". 9:15 PM and the restaurant half full. I was dining solo and the grumpy guy seating me insisted on putting me at an uncomfortable table for 4 in that back instead of a small booth that looked like it only comfortably fit 2. He said it was "Dinner Time" so i... More

I'm new to this neighborhood, but everyone told me that Cozy's is an institution beloved, or at least pleasingly familiar in the East Village. So I gave it a try. And another. And another. I've eaten there three times in the past two months and they have yet to get my order right. The food is passable, it's cleaner than... More

Went for lunch the Caesar salad just okay. The salami sandwich did not taste like salami more like bologna.

My husband and I were showing a good friend from California around the Village when we realized that we hadn't had lunch and it was late in the afternoon - what to do? Luckily, we spotted this place, a real old-fashioned no-nonsense establishment with a huge diner-like menu. I had a soaring roast beef sandwich, my husband chose a pastrami... More

We stopped off here for late night dinner and enjoyed our meal. The NYU is near by and there seemed to be a steady flow of students looking for late night food so even though late the place was busy but this did not distract from the service which was polite and prompt. The food was plentiful and tasty and... More

This is just like the diners you see on TV. The food is freshly cooked in front of you. Reasonably priced and good service! Highly recommended!

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
