Description: The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

We were staying in soho and the concierge recommended this cafe for breakfast. It didn't disappoint! We went on a very wet Sunday morning and were warmly welcomed into a very cosy atmosphere. We sat near a wood burning stove to dry out a bit. We both had the eggs Benedict which were superb. This is the kind of place... More

Great little find for a chilled out breakfast. Some really original dishes on offer. I had bruschetta with cream cheese, nuts & fruit. WOW, enormous plate of food, wonderful freshplump berries on the side, endless coffee top ups & wonderful friendly service. If you want a Balthazar type of experience and the same level of quality without the price tag... More

Family has a 10K NYRR event in the morning of January 10 and a desire to shop in SOHO afterwards, but first breakfast. Reviewing the sites on the web , and reviews with the usual outlets, I choose the Capping Room Cafe. What a stroke of luck! Arrived for Saturday breakfast 10:00, ahead of reserved time, no problem, seated immediately... More

We enjoyed it so well that we ate here three times, the only place we visited more than once. Live music on the weekends. The food was as great as the atmosphere with attentive wait Staff.

This place has amazing food. We came here again for breakfast and were not disappointed. You will be waiting for a table for sure to prepare for that. Otherwise it is a hidden gem in the Tribeca/Soho area.

We had dinner there on Christmas Eve in 2013, then came back two days later for more. Food is simply delicious, I bet I won't have such a wonderful meal again somewhere else very soon ;-)

Lodged in the Sheraton Tribeca (a nice, quiet, comfortable rest), we had had rather poor luck (Tataki, Nancy Whiskey Bar, Sheraton restaurant) with the area restaurants. On the last day the concierge pointed us to the Cupping Room. The entrance is not impressive, and the space tight, but the personal warmth and service were excellent. Prices were reasonable (by NY... We went on New Years day for brunch.I bad need of a good strong cup of coffee we were most pleased. great coffee, great food, and ok I had a bloody mary to kick off the day......! Service was equally as good. Prices are about normal for SOHO. I will return when back in town.!
