The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

Try the mexican omelette

And order avocado and extra salsa on the side. This is the best omelette I've had, now for the second time. Nice place, the first time here it was full, but we could wait at the bar with free cupcakes, so no problem... Also try the Mango smoothie.

The food was great and the staff were friendly. However, it was easily the most expensive breakfast around. Perhaps worth it for the great atmosphere, though

I love this restaurant. It's right next door to my office. Chicken vegetable soup is amazing. The service is excellent and there is a great feel to the restaurant as well.

Tucked away in Soho, this beautiful spot looks nothing from the road. Once in it's a fair size restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Food wonderfully fresh with great presentation. My daughter had the Buckwheat Pancakes with fresh fruit, thick Greek Yogurt and nuts, all dished up in individual bowls. Wonderful. I had the eggs benedick with a generous... More

I stopped in for Brunch with my daughter. We were both very happy with our food and the service. I would gladly stop in again.

We had breakfast here on the first morning of our holiday. Huge portions but good wholesome food. Friendly staff and cosy surroundings. Recomended

I came here as a student in the early 90s and had great memories of the baked goods and coffee. Now I go back with my daughters who are in their early 20's whenever we're at NYC. The food is always fresh, home made and a good value.

We were staying in soho and the concierge recommended this cafe for breakfast. It didn't disappoint! We went on a very wet Sunday morning and were warmly welcomed into a very cosy atmosphere. We sat near a wood burning stove to dry out a bit. We both had the eggs Benedict which were superb. This is the kind of place... More
