The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

Late Breakfast We Loved

Went back to The Cupping Room after being away many years. We loved it in the past and wanted to finish out our anniversary weekend there. We're thrilled that we did. Had an omelette and a French toast/egg/bacon offering. All was delicious. Service was terrific. I had a Bloody Mary and it was... read more

Our table for six was a little cramped - the only thing stopping me giving it five stars. The great service (with endless coffee) is very welcome. The most wonderfully full flavoured orange juice will never be forgotten. There's a good selection of brunches and I chose the eggs benedict with home fries and Canadian bacon. A real treat. Other... The service was friendly and pretty quick. Our food (LemonNanna, open faced breakfast burrito, turkey burger) were all delicious. Be prepared to dig deep, though. The breakfast entrees start around $17.00.

Lovely looking venue. Service was slow from start to finish. They brought us a glass of water which had what appeared to be a crumpled, sodden receipt or tissue in it. Which begs the question at which point of the cleaning process it was added and why is wasn't noticed when the water was poured in, the mind boggles that... More

After a bit of research for the best breakfast restaurant in Manhattan I took a chance on The Cupping Room Cafe. The venue is located West Broadway Broome Street. I think this place used to be a wholesale coffee store catering to down and out Soho artists. It’s a cool place and nice decorations. It is half full with people.... More

Nice place located on Broadway in Manhattan. Went on Saturday around 11:30 am.....very crowded but worth the wait. Our group of 3 had different dishes....omelets, pancakes and fruit plates. The food is VERY fresh and tastes good. A very eclectic crowd of people.....very noisy and busy. I would visit again when in NY.
