Description: The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

Was tempted to give it 3 stars but that's only in comparison to Cookshop (so much better), where we had brunch the day before. Cupping Room was fine, just not memorable or interesting. I'm not an eggs benedict fan but tried them, and they were ok but not wow. Coffee was fine, but not wow. Server was indifferent. Side of... More

This is a nice old place with friendly service. My wife had French toast and I the pancakes. The portions were large and they came with quite a bit of fresh chopped fruit salad, which was a big surprise. We shared a small order of bacon, which was more than enough for 2. The pancakes were good, but not outstanding.... More

The locations is a great downtown neighborhood. The decor is clean, close and community feeling, and the staff is very very friendly and attentive. Go for sunday brunch, and order ANYTHING on the menu. I tried several items on the menu as we were sharing plates and I enjoyed everything. I would return if I was looking for a brunch... More

Visited the Cupping room for breakfast and had a great eggs benedict, eggs and bacon and bagel cream cheese. Well presented and good service. Good atmosphere in a great location.

Had a meal at The Cupping Room during a recent visit to NYC. Beautiful food. We had a salad, a pasta dish and the Lamb rack. All beautifully presented and equally tasty. Probably a bit above average price, but worth it. Also great friendly service.

This was our go-to spot for breakfast on our recent 2 week NY trip. Big love for their pancakes special - served with fruit, nuts and yoghurt - although my partner couldn't go past the waffles or french toast topped with fruit & ice-cream. Great coffee, friendly service, generous serves. We also ended up coming here for our Xmas dinner... More

Went to this place in New Years, was a pre fixed five course type of dinner, the food was delicious, and although it was a little slow service due to the amount of people we end up loving Andre service, he was extra special. Music was perfect too. A little more expensive but totally worth it.

Two visits in 3 days are a definite sign that the Cupping Room Cafe are getting it right. We initially ate as a family, with 3 teens this isn't as easy as you might think, and all had exactly what we wanted, the Cobb Salad shone but Butternut Squash with Pomegranate deserves a mention too. Service was swift and charming.... More

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon and it was crowded but 6 of us were seated within 30 minutes. While waiting, we ordered drinks at the bar and I told the bartender there was something stuck on my glass and he told me not worry- it was on the outside! We ended up carrying the drinks to the table and I... More

Had a good, typical American breakfast here. Staff is very friendly and service is at light speed. Almost too quick for a European who doesn't mind lingering a bit longer at the table.
