Description: The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

We visited this restaurant on the high recommendation our son had given it when he visited a month earlier. Awesome!! Very friendly welcome and service, thanks Andre. We both ordered eggs benedict, food was awesome. Great coffee!

This amazing cafe was such a great find, I can honestly say after being in NYC for a week it was so good to be finally served Tea in a Teapot! Buckwheat Pancakes were delish and the design and lay of the cafe was beautiful, I really loved the old exposed brick and the very old window in the corner.... More

Oh my gosh, what a lush place, we enjoyed it that much we went back twice. So much choice to choose from, BUT I had the same both times, fruit salad and nuts and Yoghurt with Pancakes on the side. The portions are huge so it suited me down to the ground. Service was excellent and very prompt, totally loved... More

I had the best omelet, it was all filling consisting of mushrooms and swiss cheese, served with a delicious salad. The atmosphere was lovely, it was a sunny day and the sun steamed in thru the windows. My friends all enjoyed their selections, but I would recommend any omelet.

We visited the Cupping Room on a Wednesday evening, luckily just in time to catch the last five minutes of Happy Hour. We were particularly drawn to this place because live music was on offer. The food was good - seafood linguine and lobster ravioli from the specials menu were both very tasty and cooked well. Choice of wines and... More

Welcome home! We chose the restaurant by total random - went off the Subway at Canal Street (A-line) and we were "home". The place was crowded with locals on a painting-course and the athmosphere was great. We were served wonderful food by a very nice servant and are already looking forward to the return.

We visited this restaurant twice we liked it so much. The first time we went for the happy hour -- wine and appetizers were $5 each. The hummus and spinach won tons were tasty. We went back on a Friday evening and were lucky enough to arrive when a great blues group, Red Sahara played. I had a wonderful pear,... More

After wandering around the area for a while, we chanced upon this place. It had a certain buzz about it and felt very welcoming. Seated, we were seen almost immediately and grabbed OJ and coffee - both very good. Food choices were scrambled eggs and bacon for my wife, eggs Benedict with Canadian ham for me. Both were very, very... More

This place is a true treasure. They have some antiques you can see right in the restaurant, such as the original furnace and coffee grinder. In addition to the quaint atmosphere, the staff is a real treat. I believe our waiter was named Mario, and he was happy to answers questions and give recommendations. Was here with 8 girls for...
