Recommended Szechuan style food

This is one of the best Szechuan style restaurant in the New York City! It is not that spicy, which mainly suits the majority of American tastes. But the food is very good, especially the fish cooking the ! Another thing is that the price is reasonable and it accepts credit cards, unlike other... read more

My friend and I have been eating here for a long time and I've been ordering delivery for them even longer. While most of the food is pretty good, since the new management has taken over the hospitality has declined markedly and there are many weirdnesses. For example, their assorted appetizer platter (Pu Pu Platter) includes ordinary American French fries... More

I've eaten here numerous times over the past 20 years or so on my frequent city visits. The layout has changed and, what was once exclusively Chinese, is now a mix of that and Japanese. Sushi is available. But I stick to the Chinese which I've grown accustomed to. I must say the portions appear smaller than in the past,... More

Have only done takeout from here; and for inexpensive, great tasting, get the order exactly right, piping hot, FAST service, this place can't be beat. Great H&S soup, prawn dishes very generous with plump perfectly cooked prawn, very good dumplings. We ordered twice from them with on this visit and both orders had "special requests" and about 8 items each... More

NO CHICKEN in the chicken. They have a nice dish called Empire Ginger Chicken that used to have chicken and string beans. Now it has lots and lots of string beans and almost no chicken. I called to ask them to add some chicken to my chicken. They said they would give me some chicken in my chicken if I... More

Stopped for lunch at 193 Columbus Ave. after walking to strawberry fields and the Dakota. I had the baby shrimp lunch special with hot & sour soup. It was just spicy enough the way I like it. My wife ordered the large rainbow prawns which were large and plentiful but she found them bland and started dipping them in my... More

While staying at the Hotel Beacon, we found Empire Szechuan in the hotel directory & decided to order from here. The online menu and ordering is incredibly easy. Delivery was prompt, food was good, and portions are fairly large. Out of our 4 nights in NYC, we ordered from here twice since we were simply too tired to go out... More

Restaurant has been around for years and we go every time we are in the neighborhood. Food is consistently great and service is phenomenal. Everyone is so nice and attentive. Prices are reasonable and selection is diverse. I ordered from the Revolution Diet menu for the first time. All dishes in that section are made without oil or MSG. I... More

During our stay in New York we went to this restaurant twice.. Our New York friends had recommended this resto, and it was very near the appt. we rented. It was no problem finding a table for the five of us, and when we had difficulty making a choice, we pointed at some dishes at other tables that looked good.... More

Visited today, by chance. The shrimp with lobster sauce and moo-goo-gai-pan were excellent, especially the shrimp. The moo-goo was great, but could have used a couple more different vegatables. Nice little outdoor eating area with comfortable chairs. Went here after seeing the not that great Trip Advisor reviews for the Lincoln Center Le Pain Quotidien and noticing their uncomfortable looking... More
