Try the original

I am from Las Vegas and have eaten at the Gallagher's in New York New York. It was outstanding so I thought I would go try the original in New York City. It was excellent, the service was great and an enjoyable experience. The shrimp cocktail for $20 included four giant shrimp and was excellent. I... read more

Wife and I had dinner here on a long weekend trip to New York. Saw the steak aging room on the way to a musical and had to go back for dinner. Service and food were great. Great steak and sides. Atmosphere is classic old school steakhouse perfect for a night out.

For many years I dined and drank at Gallagher's - perhaps 25 years. But about 25 years ago it began a long, slow decline and I stopped visiting. Last I knew, Gallagher's had shuttered. In mid-July I happened to be near 52nd and Broadway. I was curious to see if another restaurant had opened on the site. To my surprise,... More

The art deco interior & lighting won me immediately, along with the warm welcome from the hostess & staff. Gallagher's had ticked all the ambient & friendly staff boxes before we even got to our table. The bread arrived which I know you would be thinking 'so what?' but it deserves a mention in its own right, particularly their date... More

What a fabulous evening. Wonderful service, food and ambience. The staff could not have been more attentive . The lobster cocktail was a full pound of lobster in shell... beautifully presented and delicious. Really felt like we were back in old New York. Pricey but worth it!

The steaks were so moist and so tender; absolutely delicious. Sure a costly meal, but worth it. Service was slow but attentive. The chips we were served at the bar with our drinks were freshly made; yummy.

Felt we should go a bit "upmarket" for our final evening meal in New York and were not disappointed. The steak was absolutely fantastic, beautifully cooked and the service was very good with nothing too much trouble. A real old school gem that we would highly recommend for something a bit special.

Upon entering you are greeted with this open window view of the dry-aged beef, impressive. The photos on the wall tell the tale that many of NY's finest have dined here as well as stars, tons of history. We were seated on a semi round bench type table, plenty of room for four. Just gotta tell you that Gallagher's should... More

We went into Gallagher's on a whim. The place was packed and we needed a break from walking, the cold December weather and a good stiff drink. The Crown and Ginger beers are awesome. The staff is wonderful and the food is wonderful. I placed my bag and camera on a stool and some how my camera went missing. The... More

Both my client and myself said lets see if their fish is as good as their steaks. What a wonderful surprise her crab cakes were all lump crab cooked to perfection. My salmon, I asked for it med, perfect, sauce a light gingered soy. Finished off with a delicious key lime pie. So weather you like steak or fish I... More
