The Garage was recommended to us my the concierge at the Millennium Hotel. We wanted Jazz and great food. That's exactly what we got. The food was spectacular, the service friendly and accommodating. There was a Jazz Trio playing, they filled the air with such beautiful sounds. We had an amazing, romantic evening and will go there again when we... More

Of all the wonderful restaurants in the Village, we really goofed in choosing this one. It is a wonder that this restaurant gets 3 to 4 stars as their average rating. We ate there last night. Music started at 6--too early for a club, unpleasant for diners who could not converse over the loud band. The waiter was terrible. Prissy,... More

Looking for a good jazz and dinner - this is a place! Right in a heart of Greenwich Village, very easy to find. Sunday-night dinner special was very good, it is for two people and in a company of three we we able to work it out so that everyone was happy. Special Thank You to Alexandria and A-J for... More

Like so many reviewers, I had the most incredibly rude experience at this restaurant. The 2 bartenders, especially MELISSA, were totally obnoxious and didn't care to do their jobs and forgot my simple order of one glass of wine, they were too busy giving each other shoulder rubs and neck massages instead. Oh, then Melissa tried to charge me an... More

We had dinner at this restaurant it was ok, the staff were friendly, the music was not our taste it would have been ok if it was quieter the singer & band were extremely loud for just a few in the restaurant & it made it hard to talk between ourselves. We didnt want to leave a tip because of... More

We have dined there before and had good impressions. I called in for lunch, solo, on a sweltering day and there were only 2 other people in the place. Service was friendly enough, food OK, and the Pironi just what I needed. Just OK, with an acceptable bar.

What a pity - this was one of my favoured restaurants. First customers at 11am for Saturday brunch. 3 occupied tables outside and yet 10 minutes to be served. Saucer was swimming with spilled coffee. Very good for dripping down your shirt!Toast was dried bread. Several choices there, none of which is to bring it to the table and say... More

The music welcomes you from the street inviting conversation, laughter and shared experiences. We arrived during happy hour which had good deals on both bar drinks and wine and sat listening to live jazz on a warm evening in New York city. Deciding we were hungry we also sat and dined in the restaurant. The food was good…average really…but enjoyable..

Stopped in to sit at the bar for a quick bite and a drink on a Saturday afternoon. To our surprise there was live jazz! The lobster sandwiches were very good and the bar was pretty crowded but not uncomfortably so. Nice vibe and everyone seemed like they were having a good time. I know we were! Will go back... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
