We have dined there before and had good impressions. I called in for lunch, solo, on a sweltering day and there were only 2 other people in the place. Service was friendly enough, food OK, and the Pironi just what I needed. Just OK, with an acceptable bar.

What a pity - this was one of my favoured restaurants. First customers at 11am for Saturday brunch. 3 occupied tables outside and yet 10 minutes to be served. Saucer was swimming with spilled coffee. Very good for dripping down your shirt!Toast was dried bread. Several choices there, none of which is to bring it to the table and say... More

Stopped in to sit at the bar for a quick bite and a drink on a Saturday afternoon. To our surprise there was live jazz! The lobster sandwiches were very good and the bar was pretty crowded but not uncomfortably so. Nice vibe and everyone seemed like they were having a good time. I know we were! Will go back... More

We walked in off the street and the place was moderately busy. Decided to have a seat a the bar because the Jazz band was right in front of us. Could have easily taken a table but this was good. Had snacks right at the bar. Beverages were good and food was average as well. Bar staff was helpful. Tough... More

We didn't choose to eat at the Garage Restaurant, but rather the tour company arranged for our meal. Therefore, we don't really know the prices of the meals. We were able to choose either a Philly steak sandwich or chicken/mashed potato dinner and another choice, which we don't remember. The meal was served with a salad and we believe it... More

When we first entered the establishment we were greeted by no one. We had no idea where to go or who to talk to. Finally someone acknowledged us and we were seated outside by request. Very nice outside and the Jazz was good what we could hear of it. The waitress was great even though it was her first day.... More

We found this place by accident and now we go here whenever we are in NY. Mainly for the live jazz, which is great. The food is excellent, the service friendly and helpful.

We had visited this restaurant while we were in New York a couple of years ago and this time had friends (2 couples) travelling with us. We stayed in the Sheraton New York Times Square and asked the concierge where we should go for some Jazz music and a good meal. Once again, this restaurant was recommended. (It was also... More

Fun ambiance on the balcony, nice jazz, and friendly server. Very nice brunch fare, solidly prepared, plus the option for a hour of unlimited mimosas for a flat fee! They never let the glass empty! Cool.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
