Great atmosphere and good simple food

A great atmosphere in this theatre district restaurant. Not a huge choice on the menu but food is excellent.

Our first night in New York and we picked Joe Allen based on reviews and location before theater. Great food and atmosphere. A small New York feel without sitting on top of one another. Our party of 5 included 2 adults and three teens/kids. We were not rushed and the staff was very accommodating. It did not feel like we... More

We all enjoyed our food. They have a nice choice of standard, but popular dishes such as meatloaf,(delicious) roast chicken (delicious also), calves liver (great) etc. The service was efficient and friendly and the prices are quite reasonable for the perfect theater district location.

Great restaurant and bar with the NYC neighborhood brownstone feel. Exposed brick, relatively small, and very good food. Our party of six had cocktails, wine, Maine mussels in a wonderful garlic butter broth, white asparagus, and delicious sea scallops. Everything was great, to include the service. Easy walk from Times Square but an actual authentic NYC restaurant.

Great food, great service, not rushed at all. Very pleasant ambiance. Noise level was such that we could have conversations with our friends. Our waiter was terrific and made great recommendation for us. We'll certainly be back.

Had a post theatre meal here on a recent trip. Very good value for money and although it was madly busy, the service was excellent

Great place before a show. Fast seating and service. Lacking space felt like a sardine. Service was great.

A group of 9, we were a challenge to the server. Three ordering early to get to a show. Rest hanging out and driving server nuts with Edward Albee-esque requests. No salt on French fries, fries instead of chips. But as a tough reviewer full marks to Joe Allen!

This is a great restaurant with excellent service and friendly staff. I would recommend making a reservation as it fills up quickly since it is in the theatre district. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the lobster and crab roll. I truly have not tasted such a delicious and flavorful lobster roll other than in Maine! It was incredible.... More
