Joe Allens has been around this long for a reason: it is a great hangout with excellent food. It is worth going just to soak up the theatrical atmosphere. The staff is solicitous, especially to show business types, and the food, while not adventurous, is uniformly well-prepared.

We reserved a table at the famed Joe Allen restaurant based on a recommendation of a family friend. We were headed to a musical at the Jacobs theatre around the corner and wanted to be close to our final destination for the night. The food was well prepared and came out in a very appetizing way. I had the calf's... More

On my way to the theatre and had lunch here before the performance. It was a great choice - made you feel as though you were in the midst of actors with all the photos on the wall - cozy and unique feel sitting in the restaurant. Had salad and soup and it was delicious - will try again as... More

This place reminds me of an old cellar pub you'd see in London. Dark, candlelit tables and brick walls. Tightly placed tables. Now London's food doesn't compare. We had this darling waitress, Marisa, who was kind enough to bring me a band-aid as I'd walked a blister on the back of one of my heels. Their special bloody mary was... More

Went with a friend who loves the meatloaf, which was good. Service was very fast, food good but not anything amazing. Certainly a good dinner with NY prices.

My wife and I went on a quiet Sunday night and the service and meals were terrific. I had the stuffed manicotti and my wife had the pork tenderloin, and we shared a house salad, with a couple of drinks and the tab was less than $100. The waiter told us that we should never try to get in before... More

I hate to write this about Joe Allen's. It pains me to do so. The service was poor. "Blank stares and bad attitudes" sums it up. The food has spiraled down hill. Even the burger was subpar. I must say the salmon was prepared well. I hope this is an isolated experience. I have always been a fan of this... More

I guess it was an off time because it was late afternoon and the place was empty. We were just walking around and this was one of the restaurants my daughter had on our list to visit. Coming from a large metropolitan city I never thought a popular place would be so empty! But moving on to the food it... More

We had a very nice dinner at Joe Allen during a trip to New York with our 10-year old grandson. The atmosphere is a nice blend of sophistication and casual, so it’s good for adults as well as those dining with children. The menu is small, but does have a nice variety and my husband and I enjoyed cocktails, wine,... More
