I think I first went to Joe Allen in the mid-seventies. I usually go once if not more each year. One of my favorites is the Steak Tartar. Always fresh and you get the choice of mixing it yourself. Great burgers too. Always fun before or after a show. If you are a celeb gawker I think after the show... More

Came here while on business and this was the highest rated restaurant in the area of the Marriott. Our reservation was honored and we sat right down. The menu has typical american fare. We ordered a large caeser for $17 and shared 3 ways which was fine. Hambergers for $14 were cooked well and quite good and were the fries.... More

Made reservations just after the theatre crowd left...sat immediately in the bar area which was the quieter area. Very nice table...outstanding service. Very reasonably priced wines for dinner. The Mac & Cheese was very good as an appetizer. Never felt rushed, enjoyed a relaxing dinner. Enjoyed steak and chicken dinners. Several locals enjoyed dinner at the bar which is usually... More

This is such a pleasant restaurant. We came here for the fourth time, and it did not disappoint. We had 5:30 reservations before an 8:00 theater date. The hostess always treats us like friends, and the waiters are top-notch. This time our waiter asked us if we were heading to the theater, and when we said yes, he said, then... More

A great after theatre dinner place. Always someone interesting there if you are into people watching. The menu is basic American comfort food and the Martinis are served so intelligently! Have one there and you will hate the way other people serve them!

Went to see the Rockettes at Radio City on December 23 with my wife, daughter and her spouse and went to Joe Allen after the show. We all loved the atmosphere in the restaurant with the Broadway show posters hanging on the walls. The service was friendly and helpful; Gluten issues were handled very well. The food was perfect from... More

Went here after a Sunday Matinee on Broadway. The menu was perfect and the hamburgers were a good choice. Noisy but lots of posters from Broadway shows to look at on the walls. The service was excellent and the food tasty.

The place was 20% filled when we entered. Was asked if we had a reservation and we said we didn't. The hostess said unfortunately the place was completely booked and we could sit at the bar and order if we wanted. We sat for no more than 3 min in eye view and hearing distance from the hostess. In walked... More

We eat at Joe Allen's every time we are in NYC. The food is fantastic, staff wonderful - even the lighting is great. Steps from many of the theaters, they'll make sure you get to your show on time. The lobster roll sandwich is excellent, salmon outstanding.
