We had a very pleasant brunch at Kitchenette--the variety and preparation of dishes was great, and this is a good brunch option near Columbia University. The service we received, however, was unbecoming of a reputable establishment. The one caveat being that we were a group of 11 people; however, group size is not a legitimate reason for lesser service quantity.... More

Very popular with Columbia students and visitors.... a large delicious breakfast..... every thing was good. I particularly liked the option of cheese grits as a side instead of home fries. So good. Its a small, cute place with poka dots on the tables. So while that is charming, it also a issue because there can be a long wait. Seemed... More

We have been in NYC for a day or so to visit my son who attends Columbia University. We had a couple hours to kill before our train so we found the Kichenette and it was a very pleasant surprise. It was a quaint little place with very good food. We had a party of five so they needed to... More

Found this online as it was near our hotel; small, with kitchy decor. We were a party of 5 and without a reservation for breakfast---but they were able to seat us. The menu was extensive and the food was fantastic. Our party had greek yougurt parfaits which they raved about; husbany had eggs and pan-fried potatoes (plated beautifully & delicious... More

This little place is full of delicious dishes. I love their breakfast options; array of French toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. I had an omelette with a short stack of pancakes and I totally loved it. The portions are very generous and I think the price is reasonable considering the good quality of the food. My friends also liked their... More

Came here on my first night in NY as it was just about walking distance from the hostel I was staying in. Ended up having a reasonable burger with a nice beer and dessert. Maybe not the best burger in NY but the great and friendly service I received merited a 4 star review for this nice neighbourhood eatery.

Great little spot for brunch with good food and cute decor. Although the portions could be bigger, the food was awesome. Beware of their version of the Bloody Mary, it's made with wasabi wine instead of vodka. I normally drink multiple bloodys in one sitting no problem, one sip of theirs and it was heartburn city. I had to gulp... More

An easy walk from Columbia. Charming little spot with excellent food, although a bit pricey. My build-your-own salad was $15 for kale, tomatoes, turkey, red peppers, avocado, and cheese. It was more than I could eat. Milkshakes were $6.75. Peach tea $4.25. All delicious. Excellent service.

The biscuits really are good! They were my favorite part of the $10 Farmhouse special which included two eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit. The potatoes were so-so, not a lot of flavor. Biscuits are served with peach preserves (also yummy). If I go there again, I will definitely try more of the baked goods or breads, perhaps pancakes. The... More
