I went in July with a friend. I had the filet, my buddy had the flank steak. They were both good, not spectacular, but good. No complaints. Its a old school place, lots of charm. nice strong drinks and pretty good food. Its a crowded popular spot. On my 1-10 scale I give it a 7. Its not super creative,... More

This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant, so when I bring people here from other parts of the city they are shocked to find out that the best steak in New York can be found here. I have made bets with all my friends and they all agree it is the best. The steak is served with creamed spinach, onion rings... More

Really quirky place, teeming with eccentrics. A great people watching spot. Good food and interesting wines. Our waitperson, a tall blonde woman, gave great service. We had an excellent lunch here. Great Guacamole, interesting soup with crabmeat. I would highly recommend Knickerbocker.

Went in twice on our visit to NYC. Been several times before and it never seems to disappoint. I had the best BBQ ribs I've had for years. Second visit I had Chicken Caesar salad which was large and really tasty. Service is always good, menu has a great choice of meals and price wise, not too expensive for a... More

Great atmosphere and very good service. But the steak was not as tender as one would expect at those prices. And the all American cheese cake was not well prepared. Too dry and too big.

It was graduation weekend at NYU so the place was swarming with family visitors. Knickerbocker was great. We booked ahead and had a great side booth table. Waitress was efficient and approachable which is all you need. The steaks are ridiculously enormous - one could easily share between 2. I found the place to be good value and liked the... More

This was my third visit to the Knickerbocker in 24 years and amazingly it's been very nice each time. Nice, relaxed casual dining just 3 blocks from Washington Square. We had brunch, everything was great and our waiter was very attentive.

Good atmosphere even thought it's crowded seating. Monkfish was rubbery, sauce was soupy. Waitress forgot to ever bring two people the drinks they ordered. We ordered the cookie for desert and she brought the souffle instead. When we arrived at 9 they were out of five or six menu items. Disappointing and inattentive service but friendly.

We were told this place was a throw-back to the 60s with amazing steaks, and that's what it is. Yes, the decor is dated, but the staff are great and the food - the steaks - are amazing.Three of us had the T-Bone which weighed in at 84 ounces. Suffice to say we finished the steak, but not the fries... More

OK, I have eaten at Lugars, Sparks, Mortons, DelFriscos, Palm, Palm too, Smith and Wollensky, Old Homestead etc... They are almost all worthy of 5 stars for their steaks while their service and decor are a matter of opinion. Knickerbocker is a whole other animal. They have amazing steaks, great service and that low key "real" NYC vibe. Without a... More
