Tasty Lunch, nice surroundings

This restaurant was recommended by a friend, so myself & my daughter called by for lunch. There was a good choice on the menu & the waiter also explained all the specials for that day. Honored our reservation on time. Nice and pleasant server. Good selection of wine and beer. More than just steaks: tuna, chicken, and other fish. All of our groups dishes were well prepared and tasty. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have live jazz. We were fortunate to see and hear Robert Silverman at the piano this past weekend. Excellent selections... More

Knickerbocker has been around for a long time. First went there decades ago, went back recently for lunch. Specializes in steaks, but it's an all-purpose restaurant. It's a comfortable, traditional Manhattan space, small bar area with seating by the windows, larger dining room further back. The clientele was adult couples or business groups, not noisy, plenty of space. I had... More

GO TRY IT. A low key great steak place in contrast the other NYC steak "business" expense account restaurants. Variety of non meat dishes. And surprisingly reasonable for one of the best steak places I have been to in NY this year.

we went there with the promise of great jazz music and good food.... what we got was no live music / a massive wait of over one hour for a beef burgher and and a very thin metallic bottle of red wine which we managed to drink half of..and then gave up... I have never been keen on Italian wine... More

I've been coming to the Knickerbocker ever since I was a kid. It was the "special occasion" place my parents would take my brother and I growing up. Besides it's nostalgic background, I have to say that in all my years of coming here I have NEVER had a bad meal! Their food selection is wonderful, and their meats are... More

We had a family meal at the Knickerbocker and it was good! Perhaps because it was Hallowe'en the place was way too noisy and crowded, but despite that we enjoyed the meal and managed to talk/laugh above the din. This is definitely authentic New York and I look forward to returning when the ghouls and ghosts are back in their... More

One of the lesser known ( AND BETTER ) steakhouses in NYC. Great lunch as well as weekend Jazz . Great Porterhouse for two with sides included ( cant find that in Manhattan )...prime beef ! fish - salads - a great mac n cheese. Fair wine list ... a consistent winner for me over several decades !

The Knickerbocker is always first-rate. The menu is filled with tasty alternatives and the porterhouse is not only consistently delicious, it's a bargain. Soup, Caesar salad, salmon, burgers -- you can't go wrong. The room has a nice buzz and the staff is pleasant. It's an excellent place for a great casual meal. And the music on the weekends is... Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
