One of the best bars in the city!

An awesome old school restaurant with great jazz, great food and great service! Always meet interesting and creative folks at the bar. The pour a generous drink and the food is always yummy and plentiful. I always have a great time here. Go, relax, listen to some music, make some new... read more

I took two business companions for steaks. I'd been here before and loved it. We all three ordered the house special T-bone medium rare. One came out medium rare, one medium, one medium well. We commented that the steaks were overdone and the server said they'd let the management know. That's the last we heard of it. Very disappointed as... More

Very happy to have been taken to this restaurant by my NYU host and two of his collaborators. I guess I was also happy I did not foot the final bill. It might be just me not being used to NYC prices though. Scallop starter should have had more salt. Filet mignon was fantastic. Had haricot verts as the side... More

Happened by on a Monday eve for a bite and drink. First we were ignored, then once we ordered it all came so quickly we felt rushed. Clearing before we finished was the last straw. All might be forgiven if it was fabulous. All is not forgiven. Everybody in the place was pretty old...staff may want to be more welcoming... More

30 years of very occasional visits while in NY, I go for the T-bone. As advertised, it doesn't get any better. Two weeks ago I went again to this "old school" Manhattan restaurant. This time there were four of us. Two of us had the steak. It never disappoints. Other things did. My wife was hungry, ordered the lasagna. Maybe... More

We had a good meal here with excellent service from our waiter. We both ordered the fillet mignon which was a small steak at 12oz but that was more than enough for us and it was very tasty, though you only got potatoes/chips included in the price, which I think was $42 each. I was looking forward to trying the... More

One might think that I'm 60 years old because of the old neighborhood favorites I've been reviewing lately. But Knickerbocker is a sure shot for a classic, classy brunch with top notch service! It's the perfect place to take your parents to dinner where the swanky dining room is dressed with a baby grand piano and Al Hirschfeld drawings. This... More

We were delighted when these kind folks managed to squeeze us in on a busy weekend night. They bent over backwards to accommodate the whole family, including our restless 2 year old niece. This restaurant came highly recommended from our friends at home in England so we had to try it out. The food was delicious; very high quality ingredients... More

We found the place walking by.We were seated very quickly even though the place was very busy. Nicely decorated inside. The food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Corned beef hash is scrumptious. The staff was very polite! I would definitely go back to at least have a Bloody Mary which was delicious!

Last Saturday I decided to have an early brunch with my seven year son. It was around noon, and the restaurant was 3/4 empty. There were many vacant booths so I asked the waiter for one. The waiter complied, and just when my son was sitting there, a manager -a middle age lady-asked us quite forcibly lo leave the booth... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
