I had such high hopes for this place based on reviews and popularity. The menu read well so we thought we were in for a treat. I tried to ignore the fact that the restaurant smelled of disinfectant and that I was freezing cold (aircon blowing an arctic wind on my back). The bread was delicious, as was the complimentary... We visited during restaurant week to get the most for our money. A three course meal for $25.00 in NYC is the deal. I started with the pate followed by the halibut and finished with a chocolaty almondy delight. My husband had the asparagus mouse, the hangar steak ending with the pineapple upside down pudding. I can say that from... More

This was my second time eating here. And it was just as good as I remember it. Wonderful food with different flavours and textures which explode in your mouth. A wonderful staff, who could not be more friendly. I am definitely coming back.

More bang for your buck! While not inexpensive the prices here are a fraction of what they would be in a "Real" French restaurant. I have always had a wonderful time here and anyone I've introuced to L'Ecole has be extremely grateful.

The wedding dress cakes in the front window sent a signal as we entered a 50's style room and were greeted by the nicest hostess. Everyone was nice. Menu is interesting and very inexpensive for what it is. We were 3 and everything we had was terrific. I had cavatelli as an appetizer and a hanger steak.......both excellent. Dale and... More

First dinner in NYC and we wanted to kick things off in style so L'ecole was the perfect place to do it. It was quite close to where we were staying and the prices were not too bad either. One of the main reasons why the dishes are reasonably priced, is because the meals are prepared by students from the... More

My husband and I have to been L'Ecole several times - we have eaten here every trip we have made to NYC. Have to say we were not as impressed as we had been in the past. Food choices weren't the best - I ended up with hangar steak (which was yummy) and he ended up with a burger and... More

The chefs in the back are culinary students, price fixed menu with or without wine parings. Great service!

I have been meaning to go here for several years and finally did last night. I never should have waited so long. The whole experience was superlative from the service to the decor and the meal was French at its very best. The preparation was creative with a bit of fusion here and there but classically French. The presentation was... More
