We were taking teenage visitors through lower Manhattan and decided to walk to Little Italy for dinner. Little Italy isn't what it used to be. it's now only a few blocks long on Mulberry Street. I've eaten in a few restaurants over the years but generally try to avoid the more touristy looking. There is usually someone standing outside every... More

Good restaurant in Little Italy with reasonable prices. Previous years they had a fixed family style meal (no menu). Now they have a standard menu. It was quite busy when we last visited. Warm summer night. Practically everybody wanted to sit outside. We had to wait a bit, being an odd party of three. It was worth it. We were... More

We decided to have an early lunch in Little Italy. Since we didn’t pick a restaurant prior to our arrival we had to make a decision while walking by so many options. I tried Googling some of the place and one lady recommended this restaurant because they served pasta made by a local place from just around the corner. Since... More

This restaurant has a good vibe, feels like little Italy, but being a regular visitor to Italy I can only rate the food as OK. It's not bad, nor average but not very good either. Ingrediants are OK, but not top quality, such as the fish. It maintains its reputation, not rises above.

In the middle of Little Italy with an $11 great lunch. Best veal I have ever had which came with rigatoni, salad and a basket of fresh bread. Butch the Hat came to visit us and welcome us to the restaurant and the experience was just wonderful.

We were a party of eight on a perfect summer evening and we had the pleasure of sitting outside on the sidewalk at La Mela. Two in our party live in the city and frequent La Mela; they suggested we order family style. Happy we did, as we had the chance to taste so many delicious antipastos, pastas, meats and,... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
