We had a surprising lunch there: super panini and bruscchetta and very tasty, healthy juice of the day. Service couldn't be better and atmosphere is so different from center NY!

Stumbled upon Max Caffe for lunch, located in the heart of Columbia University. Nice and quaint cafe, serving excellent coffee and affordable food. We ordered a squash with peppercorn soup, octopus tapas and shrimp & chicken salad. Great tasting food and nice, cosy place to chill out. Free WiFi provided upon request.

A good spot for a quick meal/snack near Columbia's campus. Seating is perfect for lounging/reading, not so much for eating. Enjoyed the berry lemonade.

Finally, I have found my West Coast style cafe where I can order a coffee, get a desert or snack, and sit down and relax and study or work or read without anybody hassling me. And, I can do it at a table on a normal chair or I can lounge in one of the lounge areas on a couch.... More

After visiting Columbia University with my daughter we enjoyed a yummy late lunch at Max Caffe in Morningside Heights, NYC. The turkey with melted brie sandwich hit the spot! At $7.50, a terrific value

Offers a constantly changing menu and it's always good. Morning or afternoon fare, and though it's not advertised specifically as a brunch venue, the frittatas are first rate (salmon & goat cheese; spinach & artichoke), the cappucino terrific, the best coffee (in big ceramic mugs, tho no free seconds), and good dry bar wines. The ambience intimate--small oak tables looking... More

This is a place that obviously attracts students from nearby Columbia and Barnard. Its got small tables and comfortable sofas and armchairs and the atmosphere is what the Germans call 'gemutlich'. A small selection of snacks will satisfy modest hunger and there are plenty of teas, coffees plus a bar selection including half a dozen wines by the glass and... More

One of me favorite casual places to hang out. Try the daily juices, avocado goat cheese crostini or crepe with nutella! Great cup of coffee, too!

Nice atmosphere. Probably the most "European" bar in the Columbia area.
