Wonderful dinner in Little Italy...

Our party had lasagna, spaghetti, chicken parmesan, the eggplant special and the Capellini Primavera...all were delicious and especially fresh. Dessert was a canolli and the chocolate mousse cake...Wonderful! Ivan was our waiter and he was very attentive and thorough..we will return!

A good Italian restaurant among many others in Little Italy. Great bruschetta to start, and I followed this with carbonara, which was delicious - not 'claggy' at all - and my husband had ravioli which was also good. We accompanied this with a bottle of Chianti. For dessert I had a perfect creme caramel and my husband had panna cotta... More

After a disappointing afternoon (see separate review) we made our way to Little Italy and after running the gauntlet of numerous restaurant hustlers we reached Lunellas. Mama was front of house and made us welcome without any pressure - you like, you eat! The food was superb, the service was attentive under Mama's watchful eye and it was excellent value.... More

Lunella's in Little Italy was our choice for dinner. We started off with a stuffed clam appetizer which was fabulous. Our salads were fresh and delicious. Our main courses were the lobster ravioli and the carbonara pasta. Our serve was knowlegable and friendly. It was a wonderful evening meal.

Lunella gets three stars based on a very good appetiser dish of fried polenta with porcini mushroom sauce. Very tasty and had us anticipating better mains. Unfortunately we were disappointed, with the quality of mains over four dishes ranging from average to poor. My linguine marinara was dominated by tough calamari, so bad I had to leave it on the... Had a delicious gnocchi with a glass of red. Could choose your own sauce but I went for the gorgenzola. I didnt regret that. Friendly staff. I spesifically liked that they didnt try to pull me in to their restaurant.... Would come back.

Loved it! Nine of us went here on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration. We had made reservations ahead and were promptly seated in the back , in a private function room. Service was attentive, food was AWESOME. Portions are perfect, not huge pounds of pasta but are certainly not small. Ordered everything from lobster ravioli , Chicken Sorentino,... More

The food was great, the people were very nice, and the service was excellent! We are in NYC a few more days, and we are definitely coming back to Lunella's!

Went again and another and had another good meal. Owner was there and tends to be overbearing to the customers, but we will go back.

The fine Italian restaurants in Little Italy, NYC, are wall to wall. You probably can't go wrong with any of them. This one just happens to be our favorite. The motif, the music, the old world waiter....and the food. Everything home made, the gnocchi, the pasta, the meatballs, the bread. We ate and drank everything in site and the bill... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
