Lunch late was a nice surprise

I usually go to another favorite place of mine in Little Italy but they were packed and I was starving so I went next door to Lunella. I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food was. I got the lasagne and a glass of Chianti. Perfecto! The service was a little lax but the food more than... read more

Lunella, in the heart of Little Italy, holds true to the traditions of Little Italy dining places: comfortable ambience, great food prepared in an authentic (southern) Italian style, Italian immigrant owners. We visit at least once during each visit to NYC, and we are never disappointed. The menu provides a wide variety of dishes, we try something different every time,... More

When I went to Lunella, I didn't expect much. I was very hungry and tired, just wanted to have dinner and go to my hotel. We chose Lunella because it looked like a nice and cozy place to eat, and it was! The food was delicious and the waiter was very nice with us. We had an excellent dinner and,... More

A party of 8 strolled down mulberry street a couple of times with the faintest clue as to where to dine. We ended up picking Lunella Italian Ristorante. The menu has a "no pizza's" disclaimer. The prices were down to earth when compared to some of the other menus we glimpsed upon. So we got in and were seated right... More

Can't ask for much more than what you get at Lunella's. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The service was unbeatable. And the food simply terrific. But the highlight just might be the conversation with Lunella. She is fabulous and someone every restaurant owner should emulate. This restaurant is a couple of blocks up from the more touristy places and... More

We stopped in Little Italy with the intention of eating lunch. As we were walking by Lunella, a gentleman urged us to stop for lunch. He showed us the menu, explained that everything was homemade and if we didn't see something we want, no problem, they can make it. Good enough for us! We went in, were promptly greeted by... More

Four of us ate here. It was a nice dinner. The food was very good. We got to meet Lunella herself, who came out to talk to the customers. We very much enjoyed our evening. The only thing that I really did not like was the 22.6% tip added to the bill. We were a table of 4, not 14,... More

I have been trying to put into words the mixed feelings I had in this restaurant. I think the best way to describe it is to say that this is a genuine Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy. And it is genuine because it has a lot of the good and some of the bad things that some... More

Visited Lunella's for lunch in Little Italy. Food was really good but the wait staff and cashier need a lesson in customer service.

So after waking around mulberry street, we finally settled on lunella. A small quaint restaurant on mulberry street in little Italy. The food is inexpensive. We started with an order of calamari, baked clams and a side of meatballs. All were excellent, especially the meatballs. So good we ordered another order. They were moist and succulent. Their tomato sauce was... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
