Nice Pub, Great Food, wonderful staff

I visited the playwright twice in my last trip to NYC last month, after first discovering it in 2010 on a previous NYC visit. Firstly to have dinner. Greeted by the manager at the door, explained where everything was I may need (Bar, restaurant and bathrooms) I headed for the upstairs area and... read more

My husband and I stopped in here for a late lunch after checking into our nearby hotel. Their lunch menu had a good variety and each item included a free drink. We each ordered a glass of wine and the shrimp blt. It really was a bacon sandwich! Two small shrimp on the entire sandwich which was supposed to have... More

We called in the day before the Wales Ireland six nations game to confirm they would be showing the game live on TV. When we turned up on Saturday morning we were asked for $20 each to watch their TV. We were very disappointed to have not been told this the day before so that we could have looked for... More

Went in for a drink and ended up having couple :) Food looked really good and the portions seemed to be huge but we had just eaten and didn't try them out. Nice place to pop-in..

Very nice restaurant. The food was excellent and good service. Situated just off Times Square. Reasonably priced but good value for money

This spot located in the heart of Times Square is a gem compared to all the touristy places such as, Olive Garden, TGIF, bubba gumps, etc... The pub has a downstairs bar and upstairs is a nice Irish pub overlooking seventh ave. Good happy hour special drinks and apps for $6- great nyc price. Food was good...not fancy but good... More

Stopped by in the rain. Ate upstairs near the window and enjoyed a great eggs Benedict with Irish bacon and fries. You get a free Mimosa or Bloody Mary. The second one is on you. The waitress provided great unhurried service, real Irish lady. Great atmosphere and would definitely make this a steady visit if I lived in New York.

On New Years Eve eve the city was overrun with crowds and when we tried to get seating at the Playwright Tavern we were initially told that there was about an hour wait. We left as the kids were hungry and not sure if we... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
