Decent...want to come back for dinner

My husband, friends, and I were in the city for the day and had eaten a good-sized lunch earlier in Little Italy and after walking around most of the day, we were feeling a little hungry, but not starving. We were also pretty thirsty. We stopped here at the Playwright for drinks and appetizers... read more

Verry goog place for good food. Had a verry good burger. And lots of tv's with sport on it. Nice escape from the New York rush on the 1 floor restaurant with the looks of a real uk pub.

Had to eat quickly before Wolf Hall, so popped in here for some eggs. What can I say? Wasn't terrible.

Great food, nice atmosphere, terrific staff. This was a wonderful place to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing in NYC. I'm gluten free, and I actually had some choices. Our needs were anticipated and addressed. We were served in a timely manner. It was a great way to end a busy day.

We had 59 people in our group and the food turned out to be pretty good. Sure, the service was rushed with that many people, but the fish and chips were spot on and the wine was tasty too. I would not normally choose this kind of place to eat, but the group was large and eating one plate of... More

I had a great time. The band was awesome, food was good. Bartender was always a step ahead of our needs. Will definitely visit again.

The best thing about this place is the location and being upstairs, has a great view of the street. The food was nothing great. Pastrami was dry and just not all that good. Service was so-so. Won't go out of my way to return.

As a group of 4 people we arrived for an evening meal . A Initial service was great setting our expectations for an enjoyable and relaxing evening. I requested a second beer; it did not arrive until additional prompting of the server. We expected bread with our meal; none arrived. Staff response was that there was no bread (surprising for... We visited here before seeing Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. I had the Reuben with pastrami. It was a decent size and the pastrami was very tender. The fries were cooked perfectly. We had the Bailey's cheesecake for dessert. It was a little small for the price, but very good. Our bill was $43.00 for two people, which I thought... More

Tried to get in a few days before but the line was too long to sit around and wait. Managed to get straight in on my next occasion, had a steak which was okay and then a warm brownie for dessert. Staff were very busy and not so friendly, atmosphere - okay, tables close together.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
