Great margaritas and classic food

Great restaurant on 8th avenue if you want great Mexican food. Margaritas are a must to try and recommend the chilli one as its divine.

The Rockinghorse Café is representative of what Chelsea has become. It is a "hip" place that reflects the population in Chelsea....and is warm and welcoming of just about anyone, except bigots. The food is quite diverse and very well prepared. All the food has an American touch to it, so it is not "all the same taste" that you sometimes... More

I found this place in a guide book as fancied some Mexican style food. If it weren't for the book I don't think I would ever have come across the place & the research definitely paid off! It's quite small inside but the atmosphere because of that is great! The food is not the usual Mexican dishes you would think... More

Great little place - excellent margaritas! Must try - the Carne Guisado, a beef brisket with a tomato-lime broth served over garlic mashed potatoes.

We found this restaurant accidentaly while we were walking in 8th Ave and we decided to try it because it looked so nice - and we surely weren't disappointed! It was very crowded on a Tuesday evening and we realised why it is so popular. The atmosphere is great and you have the option to sit in the bar for... More

I first visited the Rocking Horse a few years back and loved it. After a couple more visits this year, I am happy to say that it is still as excellent as ever. Big portions of honest, tasty, nicely presented Mexican food is what the place is all about. The burritos (with the black beans served on the side, a... More

This is one of the most under-appreciated restaurants in New York. The food is outstanding. There are spicy dishes for people like me, but there are milder options for others. Comparatively speaking, this has to be one of the best values in Manhattan. The prices are reasonable and yet the quality is as good as anything you can get for... More

Went here for a Sunday Brunch to meet friends while I was visiting the city. I had some type of sandwich that had pork, was grilled, and smothered in cheese. It broke my diet but it was well worth it! Definitely order their chips and salsa - the salsa was different from any other salsa I've had and was really... More

Excellent Mexican food with a twist. We tried the guacamole, shrimp tamale and fish tacos from the small plates menu and all were very very good. Plenty big enough for sharing. Our entrees were both from the specials menu - seafood risotto and short ribs, both terrific. Top notch service.

We tried this restaurant the first evening in NYC as it was not far from our hotel. My wife and I had 3 small dishes and one special of the day. We are speaking about Mexican food with a slight twist. All the dishes were very good and freshly prepared. According to my wife the cocktail was excellent and I... More
