Good Thai food in Chelsea area

This is the default neighborhood place for friends that we met for dinner while visiting NYC. Overall, the food is pretty standard in selection and excellent in preparation. The green and Penang curries that some of us ordered were quite fine. We had a choice of meats or tofu in the curries... read more

New York City is filled with great, delicious restaurants. The challenge is to find a great restaurant that’s also modestly priced. We hit the jackpot with the Royal Siam. In business since 1993, the restaurant has survived in the highly competitive Chelsea neighborhood by serving wonderful food—with an extensive menu, attention to artful presentation, abundant portions, and skillful, varied flavors.... We stumbled on this place on a cold February evening, so started by ordering some warm sake (confusingly Japanese, not Thai). The menu was quite large. I had the vegetable dumplings which were lovely, and the garlic ginger tofu was well cooked. I was offers a choice of white or brown rice, which was novel for me. I opted for... More

We have never been to a Thai restaurant before and was a little hesitant today, especially it being Valentines Day. It was delicious!! Service was very good service. Just happened to walk by and so glad we stopped. Prices are very reasonable - will definitely come back next time we are in town!

I am going to start reviewing my ole NYC stand-bys - they have a theme: Quick, cheap, and delicious food. Royal Siam was reviewed in the Times many years ago and its a great choice for Thai in Chelsea. We always eat the same - summer rolls, satay, beef & papaya salad, shrimp with red curry. Nothing too extraordinary, but... More

While visiting New York from California, we enjoyed walking along the Hi-Line in Chelsea area and decided to get off and walk to find something for dinner. Happened upon this place and were very pleased with food quality, appearance, service, ambience, etc., for a reasonable price in New York City.

I know exactly what to expect when I come: the food is good, the prices fair and the staff pleasant. It used to be a little better, but it is my favorite choice of the (too) many Thai places in the neighborhood.

I stopped by on August 27th and ordered Tamarind Duck. Just the way I like it. Nice and tender, but the sauce was a bit sweet for my taste. The Duck was cooked to perfection. Not greasy at all and enough veggies with the dish that I did not feel guilty about eating Duck. Will definetly go back to try... More

We stayed at the Chelsea Gem hotel and saw this place out of our window. Ordered online takeout. Food was done quickly and done to order. Ordered very spicy and did get very spicy, my husband loved it.
