Best Steamed Juicy Buns in the area

I haven't eaten at Sammy's since my exhibition opening in 2008. It was Halloween day so we went down before the West Village Parade. I had the Egg Noodles with Vegetables and my companion had the Orange Chicken. We also shared an order of Steamed Juicy Buns. I'm not a pork eater, but make an... read more

My friend and I stopped in Saturday afternoon. We shared an appetizer and main dish. The vegetable dumplings were just OK and the only good thing about The Double Sauteed Pork was the mushrooms which were delicious. A door near where were seated was open and when we told the waitress we were cold she said other patrons were hot... More

I always eat here when in the city. Have been going here for about 20 years. Always delicious, fresh tasty. Portions are a good size. Friendly, fast service. Clean place to eat. Nice location and good area to stroll after eating. Highly recommend.

I read other TripAdvisor reviews saying to order the soup: I did, and it was well worth it! I highly recommend the Cantonese Wonton Soup with roast pork - add some noodles, too. The wontons were excellent! Good, cheap Chinese!

When traveling we always want to find the restaurant where the natives eat. Sammy's is in Greenwich Village, NYC. Here, you'll find freshly, on the spot, cooked savory chinese food. The neighborhood is friendly, safe, and interesting. The place is family, couple, and visitor friendly. Best of all, it is very reasonable. a large dish (enough for two adults) of... More

My wife and I found Sammy's Noodle Shop on 6th Avenue several years ago. On every trip to NYC we make it a point to visit Sammy's. Their Chicken Chow Fun, Garlic Chicken, Shrimp with Vegetables are our favorites. The food is very tasty, portions are very large and the prices can't be beat. The decor isn't great so if... More

If you walk to fast down 6th Avenue, you might miss it. The food here is some of the best Chinese food I've ever tasted. My beau and I decided to do a stroll in the city and didn't want to spend a lot. He knew of this spot and I was a little unimpressed when I first walked in.... More

The BEST Chinese food in the area. Great selection of dishes and flavors in a tired looking big room. Their dishes are reasonable and amazingly generous sized. Our go-to Chinese restaurant when in New York. Try the giant shrimp in black bean sauce. My friend loved the beef stew - full of spinach and meat. The Crystal Shrimp Dumplings are... More

I try to get to Sammy's every time I am in NYC. This month, the meal there was postponed for various reasons, and I was chomping at the bit, so to speak. The place is usually filled, with people who look like they are thoroughly enjoying themselves. I have never had to wait. The service is very efficient. One waiter... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
