Massive portions

We wanted Chinese food on our last night in NYC and once we got over the size of the menu, we started noticing the portion size on other tables. Luckily the food is large in quality as well as quantity, and we even met a family who drive for an hour to eat at Sammy's regularly. If I was within... read more

I try to get to Sammy's every time I am in NYC. This month, the meal there was postponed for various reasons, and I was chomping at the bit, so to speak. The place is usually filled, with people who look like they are thoroughly enjoying themselves. I have never had to wait. The service is very efficient. One waiter... More

This is conveniently located in the West Village. Popular with neighborhood folks. Let's just say the portions are generous. Big place but it gets crowded at night.

When I moved to this neighborhood in the 1980's, Charlie Mom was the untouchable king of the Chinese Restaurants, and it remained that way for many years, as other Chinese restaurants in the area came and went. People came from everywhere to go to Charlie Mom's. Around 1995 Sammy's opened up across the street (across and over about a block)... More

There is so much great dining in NYC, perhaps you should give this joint, and it is a joint, a pass. Still, if you want a cheap (by NYC standards for sure) place with decent food, then welcome to Sammy's. I order will feed 2 people pretty easily and 3 dishes for 4 is more than enough. Falls into the... More

I was referred to this wonderful and authentic NYC restaurant by a friend, because they know my daughter and I are huge fans of any type of Asian noodles. The Mandarin Beef Noodles were enormous and delicious. The bowl was sat between us, and we shared until the very last noodle was devoured. The portions are huge and the service... More

I love Sammy's. I have to go here every time in NYC. They have the best lo mein noodles. I swear they are homemade as they are not like a standard lo mein noodle. The scallion pancake appetizer is also a must order. The best!

A large menu consisting of a good range of Chinese food. Portions are large and service relatively quick. Staff will gladly assist with information on spices and tone down the heat if you so desire. Food is very tasty and prices are good. Décor is non-existent. Well worth a visit

They never miss. I have been going here for about 20 years. I live in Florida now and never miss a chance to eat when back in NY. Service is awesome. Food is awesome. Consistent, delicious, hot, fool of flavor, never a bump in the road.

We were looking for a nice lunch in Greenwich Village, and went to Sammy's because of the good reviews in TA. And we weren't disappointed - the food was great, prices were reasonable, and portions were huge! The décor is sort of non-existent, so don't expect fancy...but the food and prices are great!

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
