Very picky with Chinese food. However this is my go to spot in NYC. I love this place. Everything I've had on the menu is delicious.
I have been going here for years and in my opinion it is some of the best Chinese food you will find in the city. Prices are in my opinion very reasonable for Manhattan and the portions are quite large. It is easily reachable by mass transit either using PATH or the NYC Subway. There is plenty of seating for... Wow, I am still talking about this authentic large spacious and inviting restaurant in the village on sixth avenue. We came across this place by accident, our favorite Chines Restaurant was closed and a woman standing there suggested we give Sammy's a try. we were very reluctant because of the name but the woman assured we would love it. What... More
I have been going to Sammy's Noodle Shop for over twenty years. It's amazing that the food today is just as good as it was twenty years ago. The noodle dishes are amazing and so are traditional dishes such as beef with broccoli, diced chicken and shrimp and of course the duck. This is not an upscale restaurant. This is... More
We were directed to Sammy's in Greenwich Village and what a wonderful surprise. The noodle soup and pan fried corn cakes were amazing! We also tried the szechuan spicy wonton, which I have not found in WV, and the sauce and spices were on target. Not overwhelming at all. The fried rice is exactly what fried rice should be-Fried. We... More
Sammy's is one of the standards by which I judge Chinese restaurants. It's probably completely unknown to the tourist population who flock to Ollie's or the Shun Lee crowd who might look down their nose at the humble interior but the food, the portions, and the value are exceptional. The menu is extensive but also allows for you to "design"... More
I was a little turned off when I asked our waitress for a suggestion, and she had nothing to suggest. Nothing! I went with the pork dumpling soup, and it was amazing. My wife had a veggie soup and was quite happy.
Three of us had dinner at Sammy's where we ordered our favorites; wonton soup, fried meat dumplings, roast pork lo mien, and long time favorite orange flavored beef. A great place for quality Chinese food at very decent prices, the experience never fails to satisfy. The way they make orange beef is unlike any other I've tasted.
It's quite standard Cantonese food and the restaurant does a very quick business. Staff rush you through everything, wanting to take your order within 30 seconds after you sit!!! The cold noodles in sesame are WONDERFUL and a must try. The soups with little dumplings are also great. Other dishes are fairly standard.
I have eaten at Sammy's Noodle Shop many times and have never found it out to be nothing but great. The Everything soup can feed 4 adults and is my favorite. The General Chows Chicken is the best in NYC,crispy and with just the right amount of heat. All the noodles and Dim Sim are made right there and are... More
