My wife and I found ourselves here one afternoon at the suggestion of a hotel doorman a few blocks away. Immediately upon entering the restaurant we were enthusiastically greeted by a suited gentleman who welcomed us with hearty handshakes as if we were old friends of the restaurant. A very nice touch and a sorely missed touch point as most... More

We are relative novices in New York but this was a good start for a late night meal after flying in from the west coast. Service was friendly if not fast, the Pinot Grigio fairly priced, the chopped salad seemed more like a green salad with a few fava beans but adequate, but the thin crust pizza was delicious and... This place knows its business! Offering elegant yet eclectic atmosphere and delicious entrees in an area full of alternatives, Trattoria Dell'Arte provides classic respite before its patrons adjourn to nearby Carnegie Hall. Its staff, well aware of these time-limitations, works hard so that you do not have to, without sacrifice of quality or hospitality. Try the antipasto misto- with its... More

What a friendly competent place. From when you walk in, the tone strikes you as welcoming and relaxed. Our waiter was excellent, explaining things and being on top of needs without being overbearing. The food was very tasty. Would be a destination restaurant even if I had not Carnegie Hall plans.

My husband and I had a lovely post-theatre meal here, delicious pasta and an extraorindary veal chop. The place was warm and friendly. A few days later, we were entertaining a group of 10 friends and needed a place in the neighborhood to do so - and so we booked a large table and pre-ordered some pizzas and antipasto and... More

At Trattoria Dell'Arte, (which is right across the Avenue from Carnegie Hall) the food is good and the service is very friendly. The bad news is that when they're busy (which is most of the time) the service can be very slow. When you've got tickets to Carnegie Hall, this can make you a little nervous. They encouraged us to... Rarely have I ever lost track of time while eating a meal. Usually I can attribute that to the company I am with. In this case its was in part to the friendly, comical, and personable staff we have come across at this place. They keep the party going and make sure you are having a good time. The fact... More

Trattoria Dell Arte has pretty good Italian food for NY, gigantic portions and a friendly host. The service was a bit on the slow side, and the setup makes it feel extremely crowded. It is a good place for a reasonably nice yet reasonably priced Italian dinner.

My wife and I decided to try Trattoria Dell'Arte after recommendations from friends and family. We were quickly greeted, relieved of our coats, and shown to our seats. Our waiter was excellent. When confronted with two excellent-sounding specials, I left the choice to him based on which he thought was better that night. Suffice it to say, my duck ravioli... More

Had lunch here recently and sat in the front section which was very pleasant. While our server was prompt at the beginning the service deteriorated. The order of steak salad was delivered with the steak only, and it took another ten minutes to deliver the rest. The problem was that the food for the rest of us came already. The... More
