Good place to eat

I orded the gnocchi, and it was good. The best thing about this restaurant is the pizza. I tasted my friend's pizza and it was great. It was really full the day I went so we had to wait a little. But the staff was really nice all the time and our waiter was really helpfull. They also have a... read more

Well established spot. Food is as fresh and excellently prepared by chef Andrea as the the service is personal and attentive. Great place in the West Village where competition is endless and "so-so places" have an expiration date of about 3 months.

Just got home after an appalling experience at this restaurant. We arrived just after happy hour and were informed that the $25 bottle of merlot was now $44. As there are so many restaurants in that area looking for business, we asked if the $25 Happy Hour deal could be extended. We were told no. We decided to stay anyway... More

Terrible food, I had pizza which was burnt on the edges and raw in the middle, the toppings were tasteless, my wife had a frittata that was burnt and rubbery with salad that had no dressing just some parmesan cheese, the only saving grace was the waitress. My advice to potential customers, eat next door at mémé.

Mostly found in the West Village but far enough over towards the Hudson to feel like Battery Park, Lievito occupies a space which essentially doubles with the front windows open to the street. Inside the compact establishment, a very good but somewhat limited menu is served and if you see the walk-in closet of a kitchen you'll understand they can't... More

Everything about this place is perfect. The food, the staff, the view, the location. The staff is authentic Italian peeps. Not only are they from Italy, but they ARE Italy: unencumbered, kind, willing to really listen to your needs, recommend good plates, follow up regularly and enthusiastically once your food's arrived. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny.

I have been to Lievito about five or six times. It is that perfect neighborhood restaurant: reasonably priced, laid-back enough that you can go there without dressing up, but with a lively and elegant atmosphere that makes out-of-town guests feel as if they're "going out." I have tried a few of the pizzas and they were all very good, with... More

After visiting galleries last saturday in Chelsea ,we tried to walk south on the High Line. With the sun in our faces and the huge weekend crowds we decided to head down to the street to find a place to eat. Most of the restaurants nearby were also crowded (and noisy) so we headed to Hudson Street. We found the... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
