We were wandering the area trying to find somewhere listed in the Lonely Planet guide. Stumbled on this lovely restaurant. Very helpful staff who seated us at the bar while quickly finding a table to two. We felt a little underdressed initially in our shorts and t-shirts however actually there wasn't a dress code and I think you could go... More

Went on a Friday night with boyfriend and friend. The place is super cute and quaint. Staff, very friendly. I had a cherry blossom, which was light and sweet. We each had a delicious main course, I had the chicken breast which was crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside. My boyfriend had the salmon which was so... More

The Place is very cozy (read small), but very charming! We were able to get one of only three tables on their outdoor patio since it was a bit too cool for many people. We would have been happy to sit inside, too since the ambience was very nice. We loved the food, too. Definitely would recommend.

This is a very romantic, charming restaurant. It has several small dining rooms, some with fireplaces. Our waiter was a lot of fun and the menu had interesting items, including "Three Way Duck" which, of course our group had fun with. Nice cocktails and apps as well.

The Place never disappoints. Been here numrous times though it's been a while for me recently. Took a friend there who had never been. They were immediately charmed at the intimacy and decor. Small, very romantic West Village spot. Food is excellent. DInners tend to be gamier. Brunch is excellent. The pnacakes never fail. Breakfast sandwich is also excellent. I... More

The staff was nothing short of being very accommodating and pleasant. Each course had accompaniments that raised the sensation of a deftly and perfectly prepared serving. A very quaint ambience, and while tight and small, somehow lends itself to quiet conversation. I have dined here in the past, and hope to do so many times again in the future.

A welcoming place to escape the cold, this restaurant was a nice choice in the winter with multiple fireplaces and cozy atmosphere. The food was good but not amazing, and cocktail list was well rounded.

The place is a nice place with good food and service. The place was bit crowded as tables are really close.

My husband and I went to the Place two summers ago and found the experience magical. We were given a table outside, which was heavenly. The food was good ( not great) but the overall experience (the street noise, the music, the wine) warranted a return. We decided to go again the next time we were in the city. This... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
