It is a kind of place where mostly locals go. Nothing fancy, rather simple and clean. The service is good. Weekend brunch comes with free little muffins. You can also have all you can drink mimosas. The open air spot is lovely.

Our hotel is just a few blocks from here. So we decided to try this restaurant. It took them over 15 minutes to even come wait on us. Which I do not understand because there was only two other couples there that night. I will say the buffalo mozzarella was really good!!! My dish was really good. I ordered the... More

The worst Frutti di Mare and service ever. Monica, our waitress, did her best to avoid us. On the plus side the pear and walnut salad and calamari appetizers were good as was the Branzino Entre. Monica did offer to fix the Frutti de Mare but I was not interested. She did remove it from our bill. After some discussion... More

After being highly recommended by our Hotel Concierge, we thought we would give La Giara a try tonight.. We were welcomed warmly and shown to our table.. Menus were provided and we made our decisions based on a somewhat limited menu, however seemed just enough choice and everyone was happy.. Little atmosphere but a few couples were dining .. Tables... We needed something convenient and this place is right next to our hotel & came highly recommended by our concierge. I have no idea why!?!?! The place itself is really nice but the food was a massive let down. It was pasta night and my lasagne was barely warm whereas my husband and 2 childrens pasta was burning hot!? It... More

Ate here on the recommendation of our hotel. Nice little restaurant but let down by the menu and quality of food. We visited on pasta night!. The food was bland and slightly boring. Italian is one of our family's favourite meals so over the years we've eaten a lot of it, especially 'Spag Bol'. I regret to say that this... More

Wanted someplace close to our hotel and this little Italian restaurant fit the bill. Prices were more than reasonable for midtown and the food was really good. Small place and not as busy as it might have been for a Saturday night. We shared a plate of spinach gnocchi as an appetizer (although it was really a main dish) and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
