We needed something convenient and this place is right next to our hotel & came highly recommended by our concierge. I have no idea why!?!?! The place itself is really nice but the food was a massive let down. It was pasta night and my lasagne was barely warm whereas my husband and 2 childrens pasta was burning hot!? It... More

Ate here on the recommendation of our hotel. Nice little restaurant but let down by the menu and quality of food. We visited on pasta night!. The food was bland and slightly boring. Italian is one of our family's favourite meals so over the years we've eaten a lot of it, especially 'Spag Bol'. I regret to say that this... More

Wanted someplace close to our hotel and this little Italian restaurant fit the bill. Prices were more than reasonable for midtown and the food was really good. Small place and not as busy as it might have been for a Saturday night. We shared a plate of spinach gnocchi as an appetizer (although it was really a main dish) and... More

We were headed to SMAC but the lines were too long so we walked over to 3rd Avenue and just chanced up La Giara. We arrived early, around 6ish so it wasn't crowded, meaning no stress upon the very skimpy wait staff and bus-boys. My boyfriend and I ordered two glasses of wine and we had to remind the waiter... Fresh pasta, excellent service, quality food and reasonably priced food. Great find for a midtown restaurant.

This is a hidden (in plain sight) find. Good food, good service, excellent value. Their lunch menu is an excellent deal. Try it, you'll like it!

I dined at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff. It is a quaint little restaurant that serves up big tasting meals, surely to satisfy someone looking for a pasta or seafood dish. Enjoy.

La Giarra is my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. I go there everytime I'm visiting the City. I bring all my Italian American friends from Northeast New Jersey and they love this place as well. The appetizers rock especially the veal meatballs and eggplant dish. This latest visit on November 1st was just awesome. The waitstaff was friendly and very... More

Went there for dinner at 6PM, so not very busy. Service a disaster, waiters did not talk English, but refused to talk in Spanish - sooo how do you communicate for good service?!!!! Starters miserable, main course soLaLa, amounts very small even for New York standards. Lots of noise from the street, good conversation not possible. This is not an... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
