Went there for dinner at 6PM, so not very busy. Service a disaster, waiters did not talk English, but refused to talk in Spanish - sooo how do you communicate for good service?!!!! Starters miserable, main course soLaLa, amounts very small even for New York standards. Lots of noise from the street, good conversation not possible. This is not an... More

This was our first meal in NYC. We took our family there. Everyone loved their meal. I had a delicious roasted eggplant, tomato pasta dish. The servings were large. They had all their windows open on a wonderful late June evening. The service was very attentive. We were the first guests of the evening. They have TV's to watch sporting... More

I went here for a very late dinner after seeing a Broadway show...This place was right next to the place where we stayed so it was handy. It was Tue and they advertised pasta tue. 3 course for 25 dollars. We went for it...Food was OK, but when I asked to alter menu slightly and asked to pay extra they... More

We thought enough of this place to dine there twice on our last visit to NYC. The food is simply terrific. The service was friendly and, generally, satisfactory. But the place is intolerably loud. I've eaten in a lot of noisy places. But the din here was deafening. A couple a glasses of wine helped temper that. All in all,... More

We have visited La Giara three times both with a group and as a couple. We found the food to be consistently fresh and of high quality. The pasta is house made and well prepared. The seafood has been excellent. The service has been exceptional with careful attention to detail and a willingness to individualize the menu. We will continue... More

There is an old English comedy series about a dysfunctional guest house called 'Faulty Towers'. La Giara made Faulty Towers look like a 5 Star establishment. We attended with a table of six. One of the two "specials" was a seafood soup. It arrived but the seafood was totally forgotten. It was sent back. An hour later with four of... More

Went with my husband Thanksgiving day. The food was excellent. Good prices and the restaurant was small but very cozy and romantic. I would visit this restaurant again.

We ordered two pasta dishes and neither was exiting nor tasty, I was born and raised in Italy, so I know what real Italian food tastes like. This restaurant perhaps is "American Italian" and for the people that have never travelled to Italy, I guess this is fine. The service was ok, but nothing special.

We visited here twice during our stay in NYC as recommended by the hotel concierge. I've noticed other reviews & a lot mention concierge recommending - so maybe he's got an interest in it! Also, both times we went one of the waitresses asked if we had come from the hotel - so they are definitely pushing business for them.... More
