Description: Named after a notoriously elusive rum-running prohibition ship, the Black Duck resides in a beautifully restored 18th century brownstone. Besides the the historical landscape, we offer an array of Contemporary American delicacies served by candlelight. The romantic yet New England inspired decor perfectly compliments the backlit alabaster bar. Our elegant and cozy lounge with a fireplace is perfect for a happy hour drink (served daily from 4:00 - 7:00) or to enjoy the live Jazz performed Friday and Saturday evenings. We end the week by playing the James Bond Film Series on our dining room projector.

Took the Subway all the way there to find out the restaurant has shut down. You need to update this information please. Kind of important!

Our bartender, Andrew was amazing. He was attentive and quick. It was impressive to see how focused he remained as he SOLELY tended the bar. If he's able to see this review tell him I am the one with the red and black dress who ordered Riesling. Everyone who served us was great, But Andrew was truly a star. Debbie... More

Went to dinner at the Black Duck NY we found the food and atmosphere to be first rate, but the table service was poor. On the night we went, the cozy restaurant had a jazzy trio playing, setting the atmosphere for a sophisticated dinner experience. Initially, the waiter was attentive and the drink orders and bread were served promptly. When... More

Had a simple but delicious meal after a long day sightseeing. Caesar salad and burger washed down with wine at Happy Hour prices (4pm-7pm). Very pleasant evening. The owner is clearly a jazz fan, because the trio who played for us were clearly popular with him, judging by his applause at the end of each number. As for me, I... More

What happens when you don't train your staff? You only need to visit Black Duck to find out. Passive aggressive and dimwitted is what comes to mind. While we hoped our waiter would provide us good service, he believed he was participating in an episode of Project Runway. The smirks and aggressiveness of our hipster hat wearing server was totally... More

The Black Duck was conveniently located next to the Park South Hotel where we were staying. We decided to try it out and I found it not bad, but could be better. The waiter was friendly, but as far as I could tell he was the only one serving that evening, which slowed down service. We had to wait a... More

The service at the Black Duck was excellent. We shared the large serving of mussels which were plump and succulent P.E.I.s in an delicate broth. Second course was the roasted duck which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The waiter suggested medium since this was our first duck experience and he was spot on. Our friend had the crab cakes... More

We discovered this bar by accident and had a great time there thanks to the friendly atmosphere and staff. The selection of beer is fantastic (especially the Belgium beers are worth a try) and our waiter was very forthcoming and friendly. Probably the best service we had during our time in NY. Two thumbs up.
