Good family-style Italian

Cara Mia isn't ever going to win a michelin star, but it is good basic Italian American food served in an unpretentious and efficient way. No liquor, but ok-ish wine. I loved the priest strangler pasta. My friends had the saltamboca and a shrimp scampi (sorry about my horrible spelling) and they... read more

This was a small yet good place to dine. The tables were packed in, but the restaurant was not too crowded. With numerous items on the menu, there were also specials. We chose salads and pasta, one with seafood. We independently agreed that the meals we chose were very good and so was the service. The food was tasty, hot,... More

Good restaurant near theater district. The theater district is always packed with people, so when we got out of our play we wanted a quieter place for dinner. Cara Mia is within walking distance from the theater district. The restaurant is small, cozy and casual. They only serve wine and beer. The pasta dishes we had were very good. Our... More

Was recommended this restaurant by the concierge at the hotel we stayed and were happy we went here. A party of 9 pax we had several different food and all of us were satisfied, both for starters and main course. The waiter was very good, seemed to be the boss.

I lived in NYC for years and this was my absolute favorite restaurant! I probably ate at this restaurant once a week. The service was always excellent (especially Eduardo...I'm not sure if he's still there, but I hope he is the next time I go back!). I loved all of the food at this place and they really treat their... More

We have eaten here numerous times and find it very convenient for a pre-theatre meal. We normally select from the Prix-Fixe menu and find it to be a good value. We travel with individuals who are gluten intolerant and they were happy with their gluten-free pasta dishes. We will return to Casa Mia when we need to have a meal... More

The ravioli, eggplant Parmesan, and chicken parmesan were the best I've had. I highly recommend those meals. The atmosphere is quaint and old world. It's not been overtaken by modernization. There were fresh flowers on the table. It was by far the best meal we had in NYC.

A friend bunch of staffers here welcomed my large group with spirit. Excellent down to earth connection with the waiting staff. The place gets kicking and loud in the evening but you can still have conversation with the people around you. The appetizers were large portions and very tasty. Excellent calamari, stuffed mushrooms and baked clams. Main course of lamb,... More

I read the reviews and decided to use a voucher from Travelzoo. Although the restaurants out the lobster as it contained another section and a small tail. was clean and convenient, we left after our meal unimpressed. My husband was encouraged to order a special, kore expensive than most of the other meals. The waiter raved about the seafood combo.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
