Hidden Gem (I'm probably in trouble for sharing)

I live outside of the city and a friend who lives in the area took me here. She's probably not happy I'm sharing because she's afraid it will get too crowded. After going there I know why. There are not many places in NYC you can sit on the water, enjoy drinks and feel like you are in a marina... read more

This place is very lay back....It's great to come in with friends or family and sit outside and have some drinks and food while enjoying the view. The food is not great but it's ok..Note it will have tons of calories and oil....Look at it as an outdoor fast food place w a view.

I dragged my husband over on a Friday evening and we had to wait over an hour only to get cramped table in the middle of the patio. If you want to avoid the crowds go around 10 pm (they close at 11). My margarita was nice and strong but the food was crap. Please do not consider this place... More

Thoroughly recommend the 79 street boat basin marina and moorings. The moorings especially on the fast flowing hudson are well placed the staff are friendly and courteous they have a free washing machine and dryer and the location is a dream next to the boat basin cafe, subway, zabars famous deli on 80 th street, and central park .

We enjoyed a brunch here before walking Riverside Park. We sat outside overlooking the walking path and the boat basin. The brunch menu is limited and served on paper but the pleasant atmosphere made it an enjoyable experience. Our omelets were basic but good and came with home fries and toast. The coffee was in a little paper cup and... More

I can't say how many times I've been here. It's always spacious, beautiful view/vibe, and drinks are reasonable prices. The food is VERY average, but we keep going back, regardless.

The burgers aren't the best but other items like the fries, fish tacos etc. are fine. I mostly just like the view and the feel of the place and I'll bet you will too. A little hard to find but just walk down W. 79th street towards the river (on the right side) and you'll make it. You'll be glad... More

We chose the boat basin cafe for our last night in NYC because of the outside seating and views over the Hudson River. We had nachos, a burger and fish tacos and all were very disappointing. We did not get a table outside and it was very noisy under the bridge. The service was terrible.

As long as I have been living in NYC, I had never been aware of this place until yesterday. Always enjoying dining on the water when traveling, I always wondered why there were no places I was aware of here in Manhattan. Well, yesterday I found out it IS here. After a short walk from Riverside Drive, you go down... More
