So my better half if a wine&cheese fanatic. Her birthday was this past weekend, and I'd heard great things about this spot....all TRUE! The waiter , Steve was beyond helpful. He helped us get exactly what we wanted. The pairing of cheese and meat was outstanding. We had the French onion soup which was as good as advertised. Fois gras... More

Very nice bistro that has a wonderful variety of food selections but focused on great cheeses. Not inexpensive but a nice treat.

we had 2 visits to this restaurant, the first visit was a disaster from the service and drink side of things from the invisible girl meant to be serving us, but on the second occasion the food, service, drinks etc where absolutely great. highly recommend this restaurant.

Second time back. This time we brought friends. It was as good as the first. Had shrimp cocktail and the steak again. It was perfect. Bartender Kosta was great and friendly. Waiter Kevin was fantastic. I would definitely go back!

I recently revisited this old favorite only to discover big changes. $18 cocktails? You have to be kidding. One of the real pleasures of the old restaurant was an extensive wine list, especiallyby the glass-gone! And while many of the old favorites are still on the menu prices have been raised dramatically-and yes they still have trouble with the air... More

Artisanal delivers solid French bistro cooking with an emphasis on cheese. I eat here regularly and I appreciate both the mainstay regular dishes and the specials. I love the skate wing, and the soup and sandwich lunch is always satisfying, as are the excellent gougeres. When I have dinner here, I love to finish with the cheese selection. The regular... More

We visited on a weekend so perhaps things were not like during the week when they are clearly busier. The food was good, but not outstanding. We tried the fondue, which is their signature dish. It's expensive, but adds a festive touch to the meal. After that the food was good.

Normally we love the place, which has great food and service, but this time we were disappointed on multiple counts. We reserved a place for dinner. When we came and sat down, we suddenly realized that the air-condition did not work! After all it is August! A reasonable place should have told us when we made the reservation, or at... More

My wife and I have been there many times in the past and will continue to go there many times in the future. Why do you ask? Artisanal has one of the best original french onion soup around. I had though that all french onion soups were made the same and taste the same, but Artisanal straightened me out. Great... More

My favorite French bistro has always been Pastis but they suddenly closed their doors this year, so I've been going back to this midtown favorite. Have been going to this bistro for many years, perhaps 3-4 times a year. They are very consistent with the food, ambience, service and quality. The price is within reason, actually much better than competitors... More
