Description: Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Chef Ron Hsu serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

The food which was served to us could have come out of the deep-frozen section of Trader Joe's. The flavors were dull and had none of the explosive combination of Asian spices and ingredients you would expect. I had better Vietnamese food in China Town. My duck was.. a duck served on a kind of coleslaw. I tasted of duck... More

Le Colonial was one of my long time favorites and go to place when I carved sophisticated vietnamese food. My dinner last Friday was unfortunately utterly disappointing. While the atmosphere, decor and drinks are still great, the food was mediocre at best. The mixed rolls as appetizer were prepared without care and so deeply fried that I could have done better... Our best meal in NYC and that says a lot as they were all very good! This was our 25th anniversary trip and it was a perfect way to end the week.

It had been 20 years since my first and only visit here and my memories were good ones so I was hoping to be impressed once again many years later. As I entered the elegant and inviting dining room it was exactly as I remembered and this is a good thing. Elegant and inviting not tiered and old. The food... More

French Vietnamese perfection! The decor is just sumptuous, and the menu is diverse. Whether dining alone, on a special date, or with a large party, the service is impeccable. Every dish is beautifully presented and expertly prepared.

Went there for a casual dinner who appears to be one of the best one ever. We has several cocktails before sharing a lot of their specialties and the food was just delicious as well as the cocktails. The staff is super adorable and very caring. We had a wonderful time there

i recommend this restaurant. The food was good enough, the decor was pleasant, the staff was attentive, is wasn't too noisy and the price was reasonable. Not much else you can ask for in a restaurant.

We came here on an Open Table booking. I decided to try Vietnamese food for the first time and am so glad I chose this restaurant to do so. It's such a beautiful place with a quietly elegant atmosphere as previous reviewers have described, potted palms, revolving fans, everything which makes you feel you're in a 1930's plantation in French... I really like the red snapper in the chili sauce. They have a lot of memorable dishes but the atmosphere here is like you are on a plantation back in the 30's in Asia. They have great Vietnamese Beer and their coffee is very different but good. YOu would be well advised to try this place. A little more expensive... More

I dined with some friends who had never been to Le Colonial and they were very pleased. The decor is a throwback to colonial French Vietnam. We ate in the dining room downstairs but you can eat in a mor casual atmosphere in the lounge upstairs. The cocktails are unique and delicious but won't knock you off your feet. The... More
