Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Le Colonial serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

Excellent Evening Great Service

Our experience was wonderful, from the service from the bartender upstairs, who more than once said "No worries", to our dinner downstairs. The manager stopped by our table and explained the wine list. My shrimp dish was excellent. Atmosphere is beguiling. Well worth the visit.

That is the last time I was in Saigon and Da-Nang....good old day we were younger and having a lot of fun..... So I decided, continuing my food marathon , to visit Le Colonial and definitely we made the right decision. The first thing that i spotted were two large table occupied by person that to me look vietnamese, that was... More

I have been going to Le Colonial for over 16 years, we went back tonight for dinner, our only night in NYC this trip. The manager first of all insisted that my daughter is under age which was interesting and he kept mentioning it which really was unnecessary, she was more than happy to drink water with her meal anyway.... Suzie, We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your return visit to Le Colonial; but we’d also like to apologize if we offended you by not serving your daughter alcohol. We are required to check the identification of anyone who looks remotely underage, this is simply the law and there is no way around it. These... More

We had dinner during our annual NYC trip, we've been dining at Le Colonial ever year since '01. As always the food was outstanding and most pleasing. The service was first rate, as expected. Our wine was especially terrific. Ismael helped us select a 2011 Pinot Noir from Burgundy that was simply exquisite. Le Colonial is a gem among NYC's... More

Le Colonial exceeded my expectations. I'd had Vietnamese cuisine before in other cities but they blew the lid off of the others. I ordered the Bo Sate' upon the server's recommendation and needless to say I was pleased. In fact I placed an order to go. We were all happy with out meals which were prepared to perfection. The filet... More

It's been 15 years since I ate at Le Colonial. I wanted someplace fun to take my daughter, and I remembered this being a scene, full of high energy people giving off an ironic vibe about the colonial era Vietnamese decor (the joke was how we were all enjoying eating in luxury in a French Colonial Vietnamese town house, when... Two couples for dinner. Started with interesting cocktail "Mekong on Fire" made with Tequila, Thai chili sweet syrup and tamarind served in a glass rimmed with cinnamon. It said "more" after drink one. $14 each for cocktails. Special appetizer of Duck spring rolls was delicious -- and four were enough for two people. Yamauchi tuna lovely but modest portion. Pho... This restaurant has a beautiful interior, with palm trees and "balcony" walls surrounded by plantation shutters. Very atmospheric. Service was excellent, and the food was very good. We had the prix fixe dinner, with cod and caramel chicken for our main courses, along with white rice. It was interesting to taste Indochinese cuisine as opposed to today's Vietnamese, and we... Nothing to write home about. Good food but we had better. High cost for this type of food. Decor is nice and the service is "over" needed.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
