Description: Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Chef Ron Hsu serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

Le Colonial was recommended by a friend, and it was a great recommendation. The food was excellent, the decor was very pleasant, the staff was friendly and attentive, is wasn't too noisy and the price was reasonable. Not much else you can ask for in a restaurant... I've added it to my NYC routine; will return in Dec.

This was our first time to have dinner at this restaurant. The interior is very pleasant, supposedly evoking French Vietnam (I've never been there). It was relatively quiet even when all tables were occupied. Service was polite and attentive. The main dishes and appetizers, representing a French-Vietnamese fusion, were uniformly excellent, as were the desserts. I had the five-spice duck... More

My cousin and I had a great meal at Le Colonial. She goes to the restaurant fairly often and told me how wonderful it was, so I was eager to try it. The waitstaff were incredibly nice and the service was great. The food was very good, too. I had the Bo Lui which was cooked perfectly and so delicious.... More

The atmosphere is like being in French Vietnam. Potted palms, tiled floors ceiling fans, made for a comfortable evening. And the food id good too.

The decor, service, menu and atmosphere was exactly as the name implies. We had a great meal with a very nice bottle of wine. We will definitely return when back in New York.

This has to be my favorite NYC restaurant... The upper lounge is great for drinks and finger foods, the decor is a tasteful blend of classical "Indochinois" style, and the groove is classy yet relaxed. The same goes for the main restaurant floor, of course, albeit in a more formal seating version. I have been coming here ever since it... More

Interesting mix of vietmanese and french. Lounge upstairs was casual (appreciated) and laid back. Great vermicelli dish with tenderloin, duck egg rolls and shrimp. Would love to go back.

My mother's day treat was a visit to Le Colonial on 57th St between Lexington and Third Avenue. It was a fine 3-course meal launched with a champagne cocktail at $50/head under a mother's day promotion. I had a shrimp mash up which was lovely and others at the table had spring rolls. There followed duck, fish with rice noodles... More

Pros: the duck was very good; portion sizes are large (sharing works); wait staff was attentive; good midtown location. Cons: pricey. We had our hotel make us reservations. The restaurant was full, so reservations are a good idea. Although the food was good and well prepared, you should be prepared for sticker shock when the check comes.

Small charming restaurant. Great service and wonderful food. It's pricey and well worth the money . Treat yourself.
