Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Chef Ron Hsu serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

My party was treated very shabbily

Although the food was good & somewhat pricey for the portions, I would have eaten there again if we were treated respectfully. Unfortunately we could not enjoy our dining experience because throughout our meal, we felt that the establishment wanted us to rush & leave. During our dinner, the busboy must have asked us at least 5 times whether he... More

Went there for a family dinner but also with some friends on another occasion. The food was excellent and the waiters helpful. The restaurant in itself is very welcoming. I have tried the one in San Francisco as well, the menus are different but the food is just as good. I would go again!

People often forget the French connection in Vietnam. Very good and a unique mix of flavors. Stopped by on a busy Friday night and had a good meal.

The staff was friendly without being intrusive. I was alone and went a bit early. My dinner was excellent! It was as comfortable and good as I think is possible in this city.

The interior of this atmospheric restaurant is absolutely fantastic - very authentic Vietnamese colonial style, with languorous ceiling fans, metal ceiling and white linen. It really reminded us of restaurants we visited in Vietnam. However, the food is a major let down. We ordered the whole snapper and the five spice duck. Both were dry, bland and not a patch... More

Had lunch here with my family the other day while visiting New York. The place has a nice, inviting decor. The food is very good, specially the crispy rolls. The drinks were also very good. The service could had been a little friendlier, but adequate. This place is very expensive. Lunch with drinks for three adults and two kids, $450.... More

I made reservations at Le Colonial not really knowing what to expect but read good reviews. My mom and I went on our first night in NYC during our annual Christmas trip. The atmosphere is lovely, warm and inviting. Even though the restaurant was packed, the waitstaff was attentive, timely and friendly. Our dinner was wonderful! What a pleasant, delightful... More

We weren't sure what to expect, but were so happy with everything we ordered. Our table had duck, pork shoulder, filet and chicken - all were so tender and packed full of flavor. The spring rolls were the best I've had.

Le Colonial is a nice restaurant with very good food, It falls just short of being excellent. Service is prompt and professional. The food is nicely prepared and very tasty. the portions are very large, suitable for sharing if you desire. We tried the Classic Pho, The Mixed Seafood Xao, and the Bun Trio. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed some... More

I have been here about 5 times and it never disappoints me! Your greeted as you enter with a warmth that doesn't feel"fake ". Start with a cocktail in the lounge if you have time. We had our appetizer there and decided to stay for our main course. Our waitress Anna, was knowledgable about the offerings and knew when to... More

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
