enjoyed my first korean food

My family and I had the sampling menu with the soju and enjoyed it. Cocktails before dinner were delicious. The staff was very helpful and solicitous. Will definitely eat there again!

Just dropped by for a drink on a warm day. Started conversation with friendly owner at the bar and happened to stay for a couple of hours. Tasted spicy beef flank soup with cabbage, spinach, glass noodle w vegetables, soy beans on the side, the ginger tea with bourbon whiskey and cucumber sake cocktail. Great hospitality

My picky Korean Mother had a craving for the food of her birthplace, so we decided to go to Do Hwa for Mother's Day. The restaurant is nice looking, service was good, and the food was enjoyable. Do Hwa is not the best Korean meal I've had, but it's a nice and tasty alternative to the craziness of K-Town.

Best choice for quite some while. We went here for dinner following the good reviews. The result is one of our best food experiences after one year in NY. We have been to a lot of places, but most of them were only expensive but rather unspectacular, i.e. overhyped, not well seasoned etc. (especially comparing them with our experiences from... More

This meal was another 15 on a scale of 1-10. I LOVE this place. The food, the service, the bar staff - THANK YOU KEVIN - it was all great. Everytime I come to NYC I make a point of going here. The duk boki is out of this world delicious. The scallion kimchi pancakes amazing. Do yourself a favor... More

There was a huge party the night we randomly walked into this restaurant to grab some food. Without an available table, we sat the bar, which suited us just fine - there was plenty of room, and the bartenders are incredibly attentive. The food here is fabulous! Warm and comforting on a cold winter evening, the amount of texture and... More

I keep returning to this restaurant, a big, open place, where you can always get seated. The scallion pancakes are great, and the bipimbop is excellent. This is an easy restaurant in every way -- good for couples or families or a warm bowl of bipimbop by yourself.

Pleasantly surprised with my experience at Do Hwa for a recent group dinner. We ordered family style so got to try a number of different dishes and most everything was delicious including cod appetizer, delicious sweet potato noodles, scallion pancakes, and then the main courses of bbq short rib and chicken. We did not have a chance to try the... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
