Great Food, service lacking

I brought my Dad here for Fathers day. The decor was charming and I found the staff to be friendly and down to earth. I didn't find them rude or snobby like some of the other reveiws say. My ussue was the lack of attention. I ordered the 10oz filet. My Dad ordered the lamb. We shared a bottle of... read more

MUCH better than Peter Luger's. Excellent steaks and sides are perfection. Wait staff superb. Hell, Sly Stallone visits every time he's in NYC. Works for me!

It was my fifth time at the restaurant, this time I went with a friend, my wife and my four year old daughter, we sent over 400$ on the dinner + 80$ on tips , the food was good as always but by the time were leaving it was pouring outside, we asked for a taxi and they said they... More

Great typical location and great steak! I had filet mignon and some green sides. The cream and berries dessert was excellent! The only negative note is the not well trained waitress.

The service its very bad and the burger its the worst burger I have ever tried in NYC. A few of their waiters are extremely rude! Not recommended for Burgers!

Went to the Old Homestead with my wife. Got there 45 minutes before our reservation, they said no problem. Had great waiter. Fantastic oysters to start. The porterhouse for two was perfectly cooked, sides were plentiful. Great old school steak house that is a must go to.

We have been there 5 times and every time we found the food and service was excellent. We have ordered T Bone steak, Hamburgers, baked potatoes, vegetables and salads. The service is very attentive without being annoying. The food comes prepared as ordered. We also have eaten in the Old Homestead when it was in upstate N.Y. that also was... More

We were a party of 8. 6 of us had steaks - 4 of the 6 had to send them back (under cooked). Asked for medium rare - got rare. Had filet mignon on the bone - not tasty at all. We sat on the 2nd floor - it was uncomfortably hot and very noisy Service was not top notch... More

My husband and I had dinner here recently for our 6th wedding anniversary. Old Homestead staff was very friendly from arrival to departure. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our appetizers (Calamari in Sweet Chili Sauce) including a recommendation from our server (Chef's Special Bread) was excellent and we were both pleasantly surprised at the large portions served.... Had the opportunity to celebrate a close friend's 70th birthday with some buddies. We happened to be on a boat trip which took us into lower Manhattan. We chose the Old Homestead based on it's reputation. The interior is charming, in perfect condition and probably looks much the same as it did a hundred years ago. We had reservations and... More
