The Old Homestead is one of the original Steak Houses in Manhattan, and one of the greats. Three of us ate, upstairs. It has an old school, refined charm to it and an incredible ambiance to match the delicious menu. I ordered a Gotham Rib Steak, and the table ordered a whole lot of sides including creamed spinach, the string... More

We visited Old Homestead on a Tuesday night. It was just the end of the dinner rush when we arrived, not overly busy. We both ordered a steak, as they're obviously known for it. We've been to other "high end" steakhouses before and this place is nothing special for the price (I've paid $150 for a steak before and been... More

We visited on a day when snow and rain fell. We arrived at the end of a long day and the welcome was not one that inspired. Service was a bit ho-hum with tables not being cleared very well and then we were sadly disappointed with the one thing we went there for - the $40+ kobe burger. will not... More

This place is busy on a Friday night and we felt it. We ordered one of the most expensive peaces of meat on the menu, and unfortunately, we hadn't understood, that it was cut from a roast and thus not grilled with a delicious crust as we had hoped for. Our mistake, and the main reason we left somewhat disappointed.... More

Thanksgiving at the Old Holmstead was excellent. Food and service were a plenty. Thanksgiving specials were a good value. Side dishes and appetizers very good. One of the best in new York. A little pricey for some but normal for New York.

I went with my husband after a long work day for him. The first thing we experienced was a stone-faced hostess who waited for me to greet her first. Then she asked us to follow another young woman, who had her to us for a long time, and, when she finally turned around to acknowledge us, was chewing gum. Like... More

I took my fiancee here for his birthday. we are from Australia and happened to be in New york on his birthday. I researched this hotel months in advance. Food was delicious and worth the expense, however for a high end and pricey restaurant, service was poor, they weren't rude but they were abrupt and to the point. We found... More
