Great Food, service lacking

I brought my Dad here for Fathers day. The decor was charming and I found the staff to be friendly and down to earth. I didn't find them rude or snobby like some of the other reveiws say. My ussue was the lack of attention. I ordered the 10oz filet. My Dad ordered the lamb. We shared a bottle of... read more

We have been there 5 times and every time we found the food and service was excellent. We have ordered T Bone steak, Hamburgers, baked potatoes, vegetables and salads. The service is very attentive without being annoying. The food comes prepared as ordered. We also have eaten in the Old Homestead when it was in upstate N.Y. that also was... More

We were a party of 8. 6 of us had steaks - 4 of the 6 had to send them back (under cooked). Asked for medium rare - got rare. Had filet mignon on the bone - not tasty at all. We sat on the 2nd floor - it was uncomfortably hot and very noisy Service was not top notch... More

My husband and I had dinner here recently for our 6th wedding anniversary. Old Homestead staff was very friendly from arrival to departure. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our appetizers (Calamari in Sweet Chili Sauce) including a recommendation from our server (Chef's Special Bread) was excellent and we were both pleasantly surprised at the large portions served.... Had the opportunity to celebrate a close friend's 70th birthday with some buddies. We happened to be on a boat trip which took us into lower Manhattan. We chose the Old Homestead based on it's reputation. The interior is charming, in perfect condition and probably looks much the same as it did a hundred years ago. We had reservations and... More

The Old Homestead is our go to restaurant in NYC. We always have a great meal. My wife raved about her filet and my prime rib was fabulous. The atmosphere and service are exceptional.

I was looking for a good steak in this part of Manhattan and Old Homestead Steakhouse didn't disappoint! The starters were fantastic and the steak was certainly worth seeking out this NYC favourite. Service was very friendly and attentive. I'll be back!

This restaurant is located in the Meat District, and its one of or the oldest steak houses in the City. While in New York if you are looking for a great steak, go there, ask for Tony and expect not just a great meal but outstanding service. I particularly like the French onion soup, iceberg wedge salad and the Gotham... More

Had this historic restaurant on my "to do" list for years. Finally got there for my birthday. Food is phenomenal! The 24oz Rib Eye was cooked to perfection and the taste was melt in your mouth perfect. We ordered sides of Spinich, garlic mashed potatoes & Mac & Cheese. All perfect compliments to perfectly aged beef. The cocktails were first... More
