A taste of Hong Kong in NYC

A great dim sum experience in NYC's Chinatown. This is a busy and popular restaurant that my wife and I have visited several times. Weekends can be busy, but it is worth the wait. Be prepared to wait for your number to be called if you go over the weekend. The numbers are not called in order. The numbers are actually grouped by party size. And you could be seated at a table to share, not solely your party. We were seated with some people who were trying to communicate with the staff in... More

We did not get here early and so had to wait 45 minutes. Everyone waits downstairs in a big lobby and luckily we got a seat. They call your number and you go upstairs to whatever floor they tell you. The dim sum here is good quality - better than a lot of other places. It's also convenient that the... More

A group of us went here for brunch and were delighted with the variety offered. The pork buns and shrimp dumplings were our favorite however we had to ask servers for the pork buns since that cart never made it to our table. I recommend sitting along the walls

The elevator door opens and there you are in the middle of a busy restaurant. The place was crowded but we were seated instantly even though we were missing one of our group. Hot tea was brought immediately and then the fun began. Carts were wheeled by and we picked what we wanted. Each dish was explained. A special request... More

Wow. Seriously, the way they treat tourists and white people is just horrible -- the reviews are true! I'm white and speak fluent Cantonese (yeah, fluent - not like tourist Cantonese) and have lived in HK for over 20 years, so I was prepared to see if it they really did treat white people like crap. And yes, IT IS... More

White families will be overcharged. At least my family was. Be careful! The receipt comes in Chinese. I realized at first is I was being charged for hot tea (which is always included). They even charged my two babies for tea. After further investigation I was simply ripped off as I was charged for dishes I never ordered. Also, I... More

The dim sum is quite tasty but the porridge served was so cold that is ridiculous. Staff was not friendly at all and hardly managed a smile or thank you.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
