Seven of us celebrated here after a city hall wedding. The service was terrific and the prices commensurate with the quality of their food, atmosphere and attentiveness. Great party. Sangria delicious--not very potent, but that was fine with us!

Spent a fall weekend in the Upper West side and found this amazing spot! Stop in 3 times , once for dinner and cocktails otherwise. Great seating area for cocktails, the white sangria and Mojito were everything you would expect in a Latin bar! Servers exceptionally warm and attentive. Just a wonderful vibe throughout the restaurant/bar. Lots of energy, all... More

This place serves up, not your average Latin fare. The menu is quite innovative as is the drink menu. The service is pretty solid. The ambiance is something I didn't expect. It's stylish, fun and makes you think about coming back again, if only for a drink at the very cool, energized bar.

Made reservations for a Friday night for 7 PM. The restaurant is very big and clean, but was not very full. Our waiter was very friendly and checked on us enough to make sure we were doing okay, giving extra bread, filling our water, etc. The food is really good, starting with the bread rolls, which come with a bean... I took my fiance to Calle Ocho the night I proposed to her. The ambiance was romantic, the staff was accommodating and pleasant, and the food was the best we had in all of NYC. We could not have been happier!!

We stayed at the Excelsior Hotel, so this bar was handy for an evening cocktail and snack. Several types of Sangria are offered along with mostly unfamiliar items on the food menu. You have to be a little adventurous. My friend became instantly addicted to the puffy little plaintain rolls while my taste of the shrimp tacos told me that... More

Our first port of call when in the hotel was the bar - welcoming friendly bar staff, good variety of drinks and reasonable prices. Pom Collins is the cocktail of choice! (Diablo was rather handy too). Plenty of sangria if you really want to get stuck in - 8 varieties. We loved the restaurant - again, staff were 10/10. Food... More

Calle Ocho is a very good mexican restaurant with cuisine that is quite different form the usual mexican fare. Excellent food but a limited wine list.

After a long day of travel, the convenience of the restaurant being attached to the hotel was great. The interior was well appointed and the waitress was really great and attentive even though she had a number of tables. I started with the Arepa as an appetizer and it was very tasty and very filling. The main course was the... More

I'm a New York City tour guide. I work in Times Square and live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Calle Ocho is located on W 81st St between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue on the ground floor of the Excelsior Hotel just across the street from the American Museum of Natural History. The flavor and accents are... More
