This place is the perfect place to eat and chill out with friends. Had a late lunch here 8/16 with some friends and enjoyed my time. This place is perfect for twenty-somethings! The food was okay, for me it was just a matter of personal taste. Therefore, I will not take away points for it. We had the Gallitos that... More

Using my Local Eats app, I stumbled upon Calle Ocho after having been at the Museum of Natural History. Wow. I was especially thankful to be seated quickly since I did not have a reservation; however in the future I will be sure to make one. This place rocks! It was Saturday so brunch was being served and oh, what... More

it is located at the lobby of the Excelsior hotel and it becomes your main option for "room service" but I think they take advantage of that attribute and it translates on the pricing. The quality of the food is ok but not great and the menu options are limited.

I had not been to this restaurant in over 3 years, since before they moved to their current location. It was always one of my favorite spots, but I was underwhelmed on this visit. The food was good, but nothing great. The presentation was lovely, but the flavor just didn't match up. We were there for Restaurant Week, so I... More

Ok, New York City Upper West Side, Biggest Full Moon of the year;, Dinner with a new friend and a walk in Central Park after dinner. Calle Ocho is located in the best place for all the above to come off without a hitch. Not only is the food spectacular, but the service and the decor of this restaurant make... More

I had a wonderful meal here with a large group of friends last night. The appetizers; calamari Frito with a surprising touch of honey, and a rum glazed shrimp were a great start. The salmon was beautifully done and all of our portions were generous. Service was excellent and we will certainly return.

I like Cuban food, in Miami, but Spanish food in NY?-not so great. I find paella among the most boring dishes possible-in this case, seafood was ok, but a raft of gummy Spanish rice, not much different than the 50's variety? It's not really worth the $$. The Cuban steak was ok, but not a great cut of meat. Listen,... More

Great atmosphere, friendly bar tenders who make great cocktails and seriously brilliant Sangria, which if you are not carefully will torture you the next day. The food Cuban, spicy and very delicious. They have a black bean dip that looks awful but tastes amazing. Their tasting plate is a really good cross section of the menu and is hearty. Very... More

This restaurant was in our hotel so after 2 tiring days walking around we decided to eat in & had an amazingly good meal. A lot of new things we hadn't tried before served by friendly staff, washed down by wonderful Mojitos which on a Monday night are a mere $5 apiece, a bargain! Definitely go if you're in the... More

Great location just off central park, across the street from the natural history museum. It's in the bottom of a hotel - the look & feel is quite dated. Service is efficient but without any warmth - on the evening we went, the men's room had neither toilet paper nor soap - which for a saturday night is pretty poor.... More
