If you are in the mood for a very nice meal with top notch service, go to Tocqueville. The Dining Room is very elegant, small and decorated in beautiful neutral tones. I try not to go there too often so I really appreciate it....I have dined at many of New York's best as I travel there often but this is... More

I travel the world and Tocqueville must be one of the most beautiful and intimate dining rooms anywhere. The food is inventive and perfect as is the elegant service. Superb wine list. Helpful sommelier. A lovely experience overall. Proprietor Joanne is wonderful.

Our disappointing birthday celebration dinner was the result of a series of bad decisions on our part: • We usually celebrate special occasions at Scalini Fedeli (or occasionally Del Posto or Gotham Bar and Grill) if we happen to be in NYC, but thought we’d try Tocqueville, another neighborhood restaurant that we haven’t visited since their move several years ago.... A good friend and recommended this place while visiting. It was delicious and presented great. It's not usually my type of thing but thoroughly changed my opinion

My wife and I ate at Tocqueville and totally enjoyed the experience. Tocqueville is a classic French restaurant in the manner of La Grenouille (another NYC favorite of ours). The dining room is exquisite and you could look around and imagine you were in Paris! The dinner was exceptional, with every course better than the one before. We were so... More

We, a party of five had thanksgiving lunch but one problem was that though the reservation was at 1:45 pm, we did not get seated until 2:15 pm. However, besides that issue I am perfectly happy with the meal. We had as appetizers: CATO FARM BLOOMSDAY CHEDDAR SALAD shaved fennel, friseé, roasted migliorelli bosc pear, and hazelnut vinaigrette LOCAL FLUKE... More

My husband and I had Thanksgiving dinner here this year. The food was great and the service was excellent. There were a few details that may have been overlooked (no hand lotion in the bathroom, one waiter accidentally poured water in my husbands beer) and it took a little longer between courses than I like - but it was a... I went here for my birthday meal with my boyfriend last Monday. The food was lovely, we had the guinea foul and duck breast and both were cooked perfectly. I was given a complimentary dessert as it was my birthday which was lovely and I left very full. I would also recommend the mushroom risotto, it was rich and very... More

Visiting my son in NYC on a business trip and as always he picks a new restaurant for us to try out. Bitter cold night and great welcome at the bar with a special hot toddy apple fused drink with brandy. Excellent service when bartender does not ask you to close the tab as most restaurants do. Arrived early and... More
