Slight stumble but good recovery.

Service was off to start but lovely dining room and extraordinary food made up for the stumble. A complimentary amuse bouche had the intended effect. Wonderfully fresh asparagus soup with poached egg was perfect. Seared sea scallops paired with seared foie gras was outstanding. Lightly smoked... read more

My wife and I had lunch here two days ago.It was a very memorable experience. We oredered one $29 prix fix menu(cheddar salad, cod, chocolate and hazelnut bon bon) and one $68 five courses tasting menu(foie gras terrine, parmesan grits with araucana egg and home cured veal bacon, angel hair pasta with uni,the breast of duck and a rhubarb strawberry napoleon). The room was... More

What a wonderful experience. Ate here on 5/30/15 for lunch and had the prix fixe menu. What a great deal. The first impression was this lovely, elegant room greeted by a very friendly gentleman who turned out to be the owner. We were served by Miguel, who couldn't have been more attentive. Everything from the amuse bouche to the bread... More

what a wonderful restaurant for special occasions! Food was excellent and provided great range for those dieting and those splurging. We had fish, pork, duck - all delicious - and the desserts (my litmus test) were yummy. Tables were well spaced, the decor is very nice (not memorable) and the service was both friendly and professional. We thought we knew... More

My Mom and I dined here for a late Saturday lunch (2pm). We had the $29 Prix Fixe menu. It was wonderful! And the staff was also wonderful. So accommodating and down-to-Earth. We had a glorious meal and a very relaxing experience. Thank you to all the staff! We will be returning the next time we are in NYC.

The pear and cheddar salad was one of the best salads I have ever eaten. The scallops were cooked to perfection and sitting in a delicious broth with amazing mushrooms. My husband loved the sashimi tasting and the beef. The food was outstanding. The service was really bad. Our server had too many tables. We waited for a for a... More

I reserved a table at Toqueville for a business dinner without any prior knowledge of the restaurant. I was looking for a quiet place with good (TripAdvisor) reviews in or around Chelsea. I was really impressed from start to finish. The food was excellent - extremely high quality, beautifully prepared and so good - and the service was attentive and... More

Very good food but I found the elegant dining room rather cramped and the service to be attentive but cold. The sea urchin and angel hair carbonara was excellent and I don't usually like sea urchin! The chanterelle mushroom risotto was equally good. The poached lobster was very delicious. But the best part was the chestnut napoleon for dessert which... More

Beautiful restaurant with very high ceilings and nice well supported banquettes. Every staff person attentive. Only once they did not clear the crumbs just before the entrees. Imaginative well prepared French / Mediterranean cuisine. Expensive wine list, but I chose the bottle that they serve by the glass for white and it was very good. From lobster to guinea hen... More

Very reliable upscale modern American restaurant. Have dined here 3 times previously. Elegant setting, quiet consistent service. Food is beautifully cooked and presented. Portions not very large but adequate if you plan on eating 3 courses. I do love their uni pasta and the grilled octopus. Other diners in our group enjoyed the mushroom risotto, smoked duck breast and sea... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
