This is a most comfortable restaurant. We arrived early for dinner and started out in the cozy old-style bar. The bartender was very professional and a good conversationalist. When our table was ready we were escorted by a very professional host. Our waiter was great and it turned out that he was new to NYC coming recently from California. What... More

I can't say enough about our favorite NYC dining destination. The servers are so friendly, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food is outstanding. I will miss this location but I have no doubt they will bring the same energy and create a welcoming ambiance wherever they move to.

I have been going here for over 20 years...and it never disappoints! The staff make all feel so welcomed and comfortable. And I contually get some of the same dishes because they are that good. But if there is something new...go for it...everything is great! I always enjoy lunch at the bar...bar staff make if so much fun...and it's where... More

We were in NYC for a short break and chose the Union Square Cafe. It was so good, we ended up returning in the space of four days. The surroundings were comfortable and stylish and the atmosphere helped by the restaurant being busy but not over-crowded. There was a good range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes (we sampled all... More

I went to Union Square Cafe for the first time on my last night living in NYC after 3 years. My mom took me and my best friend out to eat, and while the food was delicious, the meal was made even better by our fabulous server Carolyn. She has been at the restaurant for 26 of the 30 years... More

I have been coming to Union square for lunch twice a week on weeks I don't have to travel for business and now it's closing. Sam and his team have been implementing Danny's vision for so long in such great consistency it's behind belief for restaurant industry. Hope they will find a new location and will be back in business... More

This is a well established restaurant easily accessible just off Union Square and the various subway lines which connect on 14th Street. The staff are welcoming and friendly as well as knowledgeable about the menu. We had the pigs ears to start which were honey coated and superb. I then had the lasagna which was really good. And the cheesecake... More

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Manhattan. This is the flagship concept of Danny Meyer's culinary empire. Danny Meyer built his concepts around hospitality so the servers and staff are always very personable, warm, and casual as if we are in their homes. There are many staff who have been there for 20 years so they are also... More

I was recommended this restaurant by a chef in the UK who had heard about it and said that I should visit it. I am so glad I did. It was the best meal we had eaten in New York. The service was good, very relaxed, friendly, yet professional. The food was delicious. I couldn't fault it. We took a... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
