A fantastic evening

I love this place. Beautiful setting with some lovely details...not your typical cold room with rows and rows of tables. The food was end to end excellent..except for the salted sunchokes. They weren't bad..just wasn't expecting the major smoke flavour. I had the leaf salad ( way more flavours... read more

We visited Union Square Cafe based upon a recent WSJ article written by Lettie Teague about Madeira. Talking to the sommelier and test tasting a sampling of Madeira was the highlight of our visit and completely worthwhile. The food was okay and a bit pricey for what was served up. It was wonky to order French press coffee and receive... More

It had been about 20 years since I ate at the Union Square Café and it was as good as I remembered. My husband had the skate and I had the lamb and it was delicious. Highly recommend. They will be closing at the end of the year so make sure you go before that!

Excellent in every respect. Great wait staff and terrific food choices. Oysters are fresh and delicious as is the calamari. Pasta dishes just right in taste and portion size. Enjoy!

The staff sets the tone for this NYC foodie icon. The warm greeting at reception to the dialogue with the waitstaff makes you feel welcome. The unique dining choices such as the "Cara Cara Orange salad with shaved Ricotta Cheese" made our dinner a treat. The wine choices covered the full spectrum and the wine steward was very helpful in... More

I had pre-booked this restaurant based upon reviews I had seen. The restaurant was OK and the food was good but only good. For the price I would have expected more. Overall not a bad experience but will be unlikely to feature when we next visit.

In fact too crowded at happy hours and not good music if u have a meeting around this place is so suitable to go. but I recommend you to walk a bit downtown to Soho for a good cafe.

It's always been and still is my favorite New York restaurant. Casual, artfully designed and welcoming space. Always delicious and market driven. Great wine list- also interesting selection of whiskies and madeiras Never disappoints.

Great to see a place that concentrates in good food and service. This NY institution has a simple menu with amazing options. We tried the swordfish, the NY strip and the lamb, and all of them were amazing. A great selection of wines also.

We fully enjoyed the nice Sunday brunch. Brussel srouts salad was crispy and fresh. Skate was well prepared. My friend had a tuna burger, and the ginger enhanced the taste of the burger. The dessert, banana tart was excellent along with tasty high-grade coffee. Also the staff were very friendly and efficient. We will look forward to the next visit.

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
