A classic

Danny Meyer is celebrating thirty years since he opened Union Square Cafe, and it's amusing that there's an homage to the year 1985 when you open the menu. We both enjoy spicy foods, so we choose to eat at Malaysian restaurant; known as Laut. It's reviews seemed quite good, and it also had a Michelin-star rated spot in Union Square. Note: We were, or are not familiar with this term! Apparently, earning a Michelin star is a big deal. Owner Salil Mehta, who's operated the restaurant for a... More

Certainly one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The quality of patty was excellent. Well cooked and served with tasty fries. They have also a really good offer of beers.

Had been looking forward to trying this restaurant on our recent visit to New York. My husband and I had 2 different starters and main courses and all 4 dishes were far too salty, it was as if someone had had an accident with the salt pot. Very over priced considering I had plain roast chicken and mashed potato. Being... More

I has taken me four attempts to get a reservation at Union Square Café, but I'm glad I was persistent. Excellent service. Beef carpaccio appetizer was amazing. So buttery. Lamb shoulder was tender and tasty--was hoping they'd have lamb chops that day, but sadly no. Dessert was good, but nothing spectacular.

Dinner was excellent. Service was excellent. We were seated in the table closest to kitchen, which is also closest to the restrooms. As a general rule would have had them move us but was happy to get a late table. Occasional whiff of garbage from kitchen and traffic to bathroom diminished the experience a bit. If they try to put... More

Danny had a contest on the 10th anniversary of USC for your most unusual experience. Dee wrote that she had received three USC cookbooks that had just been published for Christmas. The reward was a bottle of Billecart Salmon champagne on your next visit. Wow! Actually everyone who entered the contest won exemplifying Danny’s philosophy of giving the customer more... More

my partner and I visited this restaurant last night and it was a fantastic experience. The service really was on a different level and the food was great. My partner found the gnochi to be quite salty but the rest of the meal made up for this. I would highjly recommend going as I've heard it will be closing soon.

The ambiance could not be more charming and the food lives up to that charm. It is intimate but has a long vibrant bar. Beautifully designed.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
