Many years ago I had been to Blue Water Grill several times. It was fun, the food was good. This pas Saturday nite(2 August 2015) friends invited me for a birthday celebration. The restaurant lost our reservation, then they gave away our table, meaning another 20 minute wait. The service was pretty bad - 3 out of 5 orders were... More

Blue Water Grill offered a fabulous break on a very hot day. The initial greeting, the service by our server and assistant were all incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant - especially to fish/seafood lovers!

When I learned that I was in NYC during Restaurant Week (actually a month!), I decided to splurge on one good prix fixe dinner at $38 + tax, tip, add-ons. I was in this neighborhood after spending much of the day doing research at an archive and museum nearby. I was dressed for comfort and didn't have a chance to... More

We met here with friends for a pre-theater dinner, allowing 2 hours. The waiter said that would not be a problem, and he was correct. The space is in a former bank building, with high ceilings, so the noise level was reasonable. We asked the waiter if the background music could be lowered, and he was able to comply. All... More

We ate on the cool terrace with view on the park. Good and no rushy service, letting us the time to finish the wine bottle chosen among a "wow list"! Excellent maki and crab pasta. The meat was also perfectly cooked. A very cool moment in a once upon a time place.

This Union Square seafood restaurant has been around over 18 years but is still a hot spot for seafood. We had a double birthday party there last night and the restaurant was so fun and generous that the noise level became far less important. The seafood tower is impressive and the regular entrees were excellent. Skip the mini-lobster rolls however... More

Service and food were excellent, I had the sea bass which was cooked just right. Sushi was also excellent. Try the watermelon sorbe.

My family stopped into Blue Water Grill right around happy hour. We were seated at a large booth style table while we ordered drinks and some sushi appetizers. It was quiet and uncrowded. We talked and relaxed. The sushi was very good. At five o"clock we chose dinner from the regular menu. Everything was pleasant and exactly what we were... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
