Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the...
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

Carmines is one of my favorite restaurants. My family and I go there as often as we can especially if it's a group of us. The prices are reasonable and they give you a substantial amount of food. They are so family oriented. Good for people of all ages if you like Italian.

Carmine's claim to fame is serving large parties. I visited the place after touring Ground Zero. I also drive for a living and have had this place reserved for my passengers. Many people raved about the place. My experience was quite different. I came with two bus loads of people. The restaurant was nicely set. Service was slow as the... More

When people say this place may not be good for just 2 people, they COULD be right. We went and got the lasagna and caesar salad. We could not eat it all. Took the lasagna back to the hotel for a snack later. Pretty good food, but really - it was just average. The wait staff is good, though. I... More

The restaurant has good food; primarily Italian served family style. It is hard to get a table as a walk up but we only waited about 10 minutes at peak time so not too bad. The place is quite noisy so don't expect to have conversation.

This is a wonderful italian restaurant that takes reservations and serves "family style" portions for you to share amongst yourselves. You just can't go here on a diet or leave not stuffed, it's just not possible. You will always have a doggy bag when you leave. It's impossible to under-order. Good wine too.

Have eaten here twice over the last two months. Both times were excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly waiters and staff. "The back room" on the first floor is cozy and conducive to conversation. Will definitely be back and can recommend to all.

I was on a bus trip to a broadway show and we ate at Carmines. The meal was included in our trip. The food was delcious and some of the best italian food I've had and an excellent salad. The food was served family style. The menu appeared to be a little pricey.

Carmine's is well worth the wait when they are crowed, But if eating AL fresco is fine for you then it's first come first served at their outside tables. Which cuts the wait time by almost half.My family dined Al fresco. Eggplant Parm, Caesar Salad (anchovys on side) Table of fresh assorted Italian breads, Veal scaloppine Oh My!Veal so tender...
