Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the...
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

Good place to take a large family or 10 best buddies.

Took the family here for dinner. This is a family style restaurant so each dish can feed about 4 people. We had the garlic bread and spaghetti with meatballs. The garlic bread was hearty. It put Texas Toast to shame. Chunks of garlic and a good layer of cheese on it made each slice delicious. The... read more

Average family style Italian, service is attentive but not overly friendly. Not recommended for couples If as the items serve at least 4 people, and the restaurant is pretty noisy. Reservations highly recommended.

A friend who is a native New Yorker and Italian recommended Carmines and we could not have been more pleased. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. We typically like to try a variety of foods and had never had stuffed artichoke - and it was absolutely delicious! Great selection of entrees, appetizers, deserts, and drinks. We will... More

A great restaurant to bring a big group. We were more than 100 people in total whereof 90 kids and no one could even tell we arrived.. Great tasting food served in a professional manner from a service minded staff. The salad was was fantastic and the staff also assisted to bring the leftovers in a doggybag.

Anniversary dinner prior to a show. No problems making early reservations a few days in advance. Very minimal wait when we arrived. We purposely over-ordered, because we packed a cooler in the car to bring home the wonderful leftovers. A side of meatballs, the pomodoro, and Chicken Parm was actually enough for dinner, leftovers for dinner a few nights later,... More
