Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

True Italian cooking served family style. Excellent for large groups as one dish can feed 3-5 ppl. Besides the entrees, the salads are delicious and if you have room for dessert, one order of tiramisu can feed a group. We had 8ppl and had two dishes, one salad, and one tiramisu and no one left hungry. Bring the kids, great... More

This place has great atmosphere and prices, you can feed a lot of people from one order of spaghetti we feed four people. Yes it really was that big and we had left overs. The food wasn't the greatest, the Italian sausage wasn't fully cooked and the spaghetti noodles were a tad undercooked. It was VERY busy, the credit card... More

Best Italian value in New York... Family style plates... We had the Ragu mixed meats on spaghetti and the fried calamari app... Way to much for 3 of us to finish so plenty of leftovers ... You can feed 4 or more for $60 in a great NYC restaurant...Only negative was the long wait on a Saturday night but to... More

This New York City iconic dining establishment delivers amazingly authentic traditional Italian food in a family-style environment. You order an entree which serves 3-4 people they say. We ordered 3 entrees for 6 people. This place is best experienced with large parties of 6 or more. We started off with the calamari which they paired with an amazing thick, chunky... More

During our trip to US, we visited Carmine several times, it had excellent food & service in Las Vegas, but when we visited the restaurant in New York our experience was totally different. We were visiting the touristic area around broadway & Times Square, then we decided to go for drinks & desserts in Carmine. It was a bit late,... More

Food was ok, service in the bar was horrendous (12/1/14). Bartender acted inconvenienced to provide service at one of the tables (after telling us grabbing a bite to eat at the table was fine). Gave us bread with no napkins, cutlery, or side plates. When we asked for some he said 'we're not supposed to serve food at the tables,... More

There are 2 Carmine's, one just off Times Sq, been there previously and had a great time. Couldn't get in this time due to the thanksgiving holiday weekend, thank goodness for Carmine's on the Upper West Side, 91st and Broadway. Everything was first rate, Atmosphere, Staff, Venue etc, then there's the Food!!! The quality was fantastic and the portion size... More
