Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

Fabulous! Huge "Cheers" in the heart of theater district and a block off Times Square. Perfect ambience. Good, authentic Italian menu BUT better for families or groups, as each entree or starter is family size do it could feed 5-6! Wish they has a single portion option so we could have ordered more than one item.

To celebrate our daughter's wedding anniversary, we took her and her husband, along with their three teenage boys, to Carmine's for dinner. We chose the upper west side location in order to avoid the touristy midtown location. Having read reviews both glowing and terrible, I really didn't know what to expect. I am pleased to report that, overall, we had... More

Family style Italian dining...the food is magnificent. The service is terrific. Reservations are a good idea to avoid a wait. A word to the wise...you can get free refills on drinks, but if they offer you a pitcher, DECLINE IT! They charge for every pitcher.

I have eaten at two location in NYC. Both meals were the absolute best Italian I have ever had. Carine is a family style, boisterous restaurant. A serving of food will feed 3 to 4 people. The meal is A LA Cart. This is not an inexpensive venture, but a gastronomic adventure. The service is triple A, quick, but you... More

I ended up going to Carmines twice in one week, once on business, once with family. This is italian comfort food family style and the prices are exceptional as long as you have at least 4 people. With 6 people and 2 bottles of wine it was $42 a person. The Carmine salad and fried zucchini was outstanding. The spaghetti... More

One dish serves two people. I highly recommend the chicken marsala. It is excellent. You get a nice bread basket before the meal. Service is good. Get a reservation about 1.5 hours before your show time.

Huge portions of Italian favorites. We LOVED the Chicken Parm! All items are served family style so I would make sure you have at least 3 people with you. The service was excellent (thanks Raheim!!!). It's a very lively atmosphere, some might think it's loud, but we enjoyed it! I prefer this location to the one in Times Square.

Wow...when they say, "Family Style," it means bring a family! It was an incredible amount of food for a couple. Nonetheless, the food was excellent. Although I would have loved to have had a Caesar salad, it was just too big-I wouldn't have been able to eat dinner! The bread provided was delicious and it was a nice selection. We... More

When I announced to my cousins that I was dragging my sister to New York for a few days, I invited them to dinner. I had planned on taking her to Olive Garden at Times Square, not for the food, but because it has a great view of Broadway. They immediately vetoed the idea and said that they were taking... More
