Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the...
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

Imagine to go the same restaurant twice in a single day, I liked it very much. First time I took a bowl of Pasta with Meetballs, it was VERY good and it costed only around $22 for a lunch portion (family size than can feed 2~3 adults). Then at night, me and my fried decided to taste another plate before... More

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The hostess had a warm greeting and took us to a great table. We loved it since it looked over the bar on one side and the entire restaurant on the other. I think it was table #82. Our server Paul was friendly and helpful. We had not been to a... More

Carmine's is delicious. It was as good as my ex (Sicilian) father-in-law's home cooking. It's the only thing I miss from that marriage. We ordered the basics: spaghetti and meatballs with a grilled portobello salad. We loved every last bite; perfect for a chilly night. The service was outstanding. I'm heading back on my next visit, for sure.

Avoid at all costs - tourist trap. Unless you slip the GM $100 you probably will not get a table. 5:45 reservation and were never seated. Hostess was rude (and snide) when we asked at 7:15 when we would be seated (the GM had told us several times, "You are next."). Her answer: "When I seat you." We finally left... More

We've went to Carmine's on Christmas Eve. Everything was fine, food was good but our credit card was overcharged on U$60. I'm trying to get the money back from the credit card company and I'm never coming back to this restaurant. Pay attention to your credit card invoice or pay in cash.

Four of us went and had the Caesar salad with extra anchovies – Veal Parmesan – Spaghetti with meat sauce. Outstanding. Everyone left happy and full. Fun atmosphere – a little noisy but that's part of the attraction. Tables are fairly close together but you don't feel squeezed in and you get a chance to meet other diners. Will absolutely... More

enormous platters of food kept being delivered to tables near us. It is more fun with a large group although we ate there one Xmas day and it was just the 2 of us. The portions are overwhelming in size which accounts for the $52 pasta entrees. Everyone takes a doggy bag home. The food is OK, service is brusque,... More

We stopped by for cannoli and coffee. The decor was very eclectic. Cannolis and coffee (with a shot of Godiva dark chocolate liquer) were delicious some of the best cannoli we ever tasted. Scene was very old school Italian loved it!!!

Food is decent, just family style only and not worth the wait or money. Service was poor and waitress rude and not helpful at all. This is a tourist trap.
