Very good pizza... We are pizza lovers so our expectatives are very high. We order the Bruschettas and a Margherita Pizza. Both were excellent. For drink we order the sangria (for my taste it was very strong). Overall very good food, very nice restaurant. Service was ok, not super good not bad. It is a family oriented place.

This is the most outstanding NYC restaurant and we come here every time we are in the city. First, the prices are the lowest in the city for great Italian food and the best pizza anywhere. (Just don't ask for it by the slice!) The atmosphere is spectacular. It's housed in an old church and they still have the cathedral... More

Brought the family to nyc for first time and was very excited about trying out john's, especially since my daughter loves pizza. Unfortunately there was not much to say that was good about this place. The host (he was wearing a pink shirt that night) who sitted us said two word "follow me" and that was it. He plopped the... Crispy thin crust, rich red sauce, warm gooey cheeses, baked in an open, coal-fired oven. It doesn't get any better that that. No wait, in a restored church with incredible stained glass and wonderful service. Go to John's when you are in the city. You won't be sorry!

Our waiter wasn't rude, but he didn't make any effort to be friendly, check on us to see if we needed anything or even take a drink order before coming over to see what we wanted. ...but...the pizza was really good. We ordered John's Traditional with pepperoni and mushrooms. A bit greasy, but really tasty. The caesar salad we split... More

Touristy hall that serves bland 'za. The mozzarella didn't taste real. OK, I suppose, for a quick something pre- or apres matinees.

The food at John's was very good and plentiful. The restaurant is in an old building with stained glass and a huge wall mural, if is a very unexpected surprise. The only downside was the noise level made it hard to hear my companion across the table.

Best pizza around in New York. Huge sizes too, one large pizza can easily feed two people. Pasta with pesto sauce was equally yummy. Nice setting and you can see pizzas being cooked in their authentic brick ovens. Gets busy at times but service is quick and efficient. We will definitely go back on our next trip. No bookings taken... More

We accidently found the place, we just flew in, dropped our bags at the hotel and went to eat. We go to Italy for good italian food but surprisingly this new york pizzeria has it all! We ended up going there 3 evenings in a row... Do they deliver in Europe? I wish... Oh and one more thing: "no slices!"... More

Took 9 high school students / 3 adults / 2 children on group deal and it was fantastic! Service was exceptional, location was great (44th between 7th and 8th). Pizza cooked in brick ovens calzones cooked perfectly and atmosphere to match! Make this a stop!
