Great dessert place in the East Village!

I had heard really good things about Chikalicious so I wanted to give it a try. My husband and I stopped by last week after the snow storm and were not disappointed. We got a red velvet cupcake, a vanilla bean cupcake, a nutella cronut (they jumped on the bandwagon), and a honey jasmine crepe cake... read more

Came here with family to have dessert after having dinner in the area. We tried nearly one of each dessert. While the desserts weren't bad, none were amazing or mind-blowing, which was unfortunate since this is just a dessert place. Cappuccino's that we ordered were also not full cups - kind of odd.

Great little desert spot on 2nd Ave in the east village. Check out the Tahitian vanilla cheesecake. Also on the menu is jack Daniels bread pudding, how could you go wrong?

Having visited the fancier Dessert Bar across the street, we decided to give this a try after having dinner at our favorite nearby curry spot. The place is small - only seats about 10. Ordered the Green Tea Yuzu Mille Crepe cake for $7, Plain Dough 'Sant for $4.59 and coffee for $2.25. Both items were very good, tasty and... More

We tried several cakes, a doug-saint, crepe-layercake with vanilla and the one with yasmine and honey, some small cakes with strawberry shortcake and one with tiramisu. The crepe-layercakes were my favorites, but all was good. The coffee was really good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I have now visited ChikaLicious Dessert Bar 4 times. Each time is like unwrapping a gift, little surprises waiting to be revealed. The amuse was earl grey panacotta with honey dew melon sorbet. The tastes separate were wonderful but together were amazing. I chose for my "main" Gooseberries with orange creme fraiche on crispy kataifi and vanilla sweet corn sorbet.... More

This was a terrific dessert experience! The hubby has been wanting to go to ChickaLicious Dessert Bar to try the Fromage Blanc since seeing it on the "Best Thing I Ever Ate" on one of the food channels. We had to pick a mild evening because the restaurant is very tiny and you need to wait outside until there is... More

This little dessert bar is an awesome experience. Homemade ice cream, five star service, and beer, wine, and champaign pairings. Chika herself made our dessert and served us. Have an open mind as the desserts are more like a delicious chemistry project than grandma's favorite recipe.

Chikalicious dessert bar is always fun and a great way to spend the afternoon if you're a sweet tooth. The desserts are wonderful and seasonal, and Chika's team is brilliant. Love the interior and the desserts, especially the fromage blanc cheesecake. Great place to take some friends and definitely try to get a bar table! This way you'll see the... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
