Very good ambiance and food

Went to Yuca Bar for a Sunday Brunch. The food was delicious and authentic tasting. The price was also a surprise coming in at $17 for the the brunch special. Included were drinks, the Sangria was delicious, coffee/tea your entree and a side. The Yuca fries were amazing, the sweet plantains melted in your mouth. The grilled steak was like... More

Across the street from Thompkin Street Park you'll find this crowded, noisy, hipster, South American bar restaurant. The tables are packed too closely and music is too loud but if you get there early enough you'll be treated to an inexpensive and delicious brunch with a powerful but poor quality drink. The service is relaxed and friendly. You'll bump elbows... More

This is a cute, little latin american restaurant. We usually order from the tapas menu & share. Sharing is Caring!! There isn't one thing we've ordered thus far that we haven't liked. The yuca burger is a must try if your in the mood for a burger. It has tasty shrimp in it & we order it with manchego cheese.... More

I visited at 10 AM on a weekday morning for brunch. I had a tasty Spanish-style egg dish, garnished with a few greens, which included a good Bloody Mary and coffee. The service was excellent, but I cannot help thinking that for the East Village, a $25 breakfast is too pricey.

I came into the restaurant on Wednesday this week with a few of my friends for a birthday dinner. It was a little crowded when I came in but the hostess took my name and told me a table would be available in less than 10 minutes. It wasn’t even 5 and he came back over to seat my party.... More

One of my regular and favorite nabes. Tasty food and a friendly atmosphere. The huevos rancheros are dynamite.

I lived less than a block away from Yuca Bar and from the beginning it was always a great place to brings friends for drinks. The tapas is great, especially if you're not looking for a full meal with drinks. Out of town visitors loved the constant flow of people passing by outside and around Tompkins Square Park. However when... More

I have gone three times to this bar. You have to keep in mind that this is a bar, so that means it is loud and service maybe is not that hands on. Said that, food is great. We always have tapas and some of them are big as an entrée. Our tipical order is the amazing ribs, tacos or... More

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
