Description: Just blocks away from Manhattan's lively Union Square, our third New York...
Just blocks away from Manhattan's lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell and launched in October 2005, this stunning restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.

Love the fresh guacamole

Don't love the decor or ambiance but the fresh guacamole is fantastic. Too dark inside for me, too cavernous also. Love the table side preparation of the guacamole, prepared to order as tart, piquant mild etc as you like.

Good food, great atmosphere and even nicer drinks. Ok, probably not the most authentic mexican experience you'll have (a bit touristy really) but the fresh guacamole is great and the food overall is very good. The whole vibe is pretty cool, the interior is nicely decorated and the price is good. So, I guess a rather good place to eat!

Place very well located and easy to find if you are using subway. Salads are good. Nothing special except for the delicious guacamole. Service is very good.

visited the Rosa Mexicana as we needed a smart Mexican place for my family. The welcome at the front door is a bit cold but were shown a nice table. What to order though. The waiter was keen to ask if we wanted a cocktail but as soon as we decided to have beer and wine the waiter wasn't interested.Hence choosing... More

My adult son and I had dinner here and were a little disappointed. We arrived a few minutes early for our 7:30 reservation, and, even though the restaurant was about a third full they sat us in the very back of the restaurant next to a family with a loud toddler and a baby. The service was kind of slow... More

Loved the decor, loved the food and excellent service. This was a great find! Prices are very reasonable. Staff went out of their way to accommodate my 7 year old niece. I will definitely make an effort to check out other locations too

In town with my daughter after a day of setting up our trade show exhibit, we were looking forward to casual good food. We found it.. Thanks for a great night. Good service was a great start, we took her recommendation of the house special Guacamole prepared at the table, a must have to start your meal, a good selection... More

Tableside guacamole was salty but delicious...well worth going for. Margaritas were very weak. Food was actually a big disappointment...tortilla soup tasted more like french onion. Companion's taco dish would be a fajita anywhere else, and nothing special at that. The place is huge and very attractive..but LOUD. No way to carry on a conversation so it's good there were lots... We ate here for the first time. The food was delicious! They made guacamole right in front of you in a large bowl. We would definitely come back to this restaurant again!

Right there, right there in front of me, they made the guacamole! We don't get this in London, so it was a lovely treat - really tasty as well with good fresh tortilla chips and salsas. Enchiladas were also good, and I liked the refried beans too. Would recommend for a fun evening with friends.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
