Description: Just blocks away from Manhattan's lively Union Square, our third New York...
Just blocks away from Manhattan's lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell and launched in October 2005, this stunning restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.

Our first stop on the #50LooksGood tour for the famous pomegranate margaritas. These are something that NYC should crow about more! They were amazing. Another good tip? Sit in the front window because there is a fire station across the street. Cute fireman with the most amazing driving skills--you can back up a fire engine into a garage in one... More

We've been to Rosa Mexicano several times; this was the first time we've just dropped in after some shopping. The restaurant was crowded - more than we expected for 5 pm on a Saturday. They sat us towards the rear and let us know they'd need the table in an hour and fifteen minutes. This seemed courteous and fair, given... More

Every once in a while you just luck into an all-around positive and memorable dining experience. This review would be too long if I detailed every way that the folks at Rosa Mexicano made our visit amazing, so to sum it up: Our original destination was a purportedly "hot" Mexican spot that just opened down the street from Rosa. But... More

The food is great! You have to try the guacamole, it's made fresh and you actually get to see them make right in front of your very eyes. Also, it's good for having large dinner parties. All in all great restaurant!!!!!

A bullet point review: Service - brilliant from 'Tom' Attentive, professional, helpful. Could not fault him. Atmosphere - busy, lively, good vibe Food - guacamole made at the table - fantastic. Rest of it horrid. My first mouthful of enchilada made me recoil and I couldn't eat it. My daughter felt the same way with hers. We told our waiter... More

We visited Rosa Mexicano during Restaurant Week in NYC. While we ordered from the 3-course meal menu, we also ordered a side of guacamole, which is made to order at your table. Overall, the food was good, but the most surprising thing was the portion size of each dish. We were so full that we had to take more leftovers.... More

Tons of tasty dishes to choose from in this spacious Union Square Restaurant. They have a cool waterfall as the centerpiece for the restaurant. Extremely comfortable seating w/ great service. I love table side guacamole & they do it right! There are few better cheesy dishes than the boudin di pollo.

We had a fab night here. What an interesting place to visit. The guacamole cart was a bit of a novelty but the taste was great so no complaints from our table. All our entrees were well received with list of taste and varied flavours. The only regret was that we had no room left for dessert but we'll back….

The food here is good, but seasoned with way too much cilantro. I mean everything you order has a fist-full of cilantro on it, and it becomes the only thing you taste. I didn't expect to have to tell the waitress for each item "light on the cilantro", but in hindisght that seems to be what you have to do.... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
