Nice Italian place, a bit out of the way if you are going to the theater district. We were. We arrived at 5 PM with a Groupon in hand, and the place was empty. However, we were greeted warmly by the hostess. We received a delicious bread immediately, and the waiter constantly filled our water... read more

This was a birthday dinner for my stepson and dautghter. My daughter is a vegetarian and the rest of us are meat eaters. The menu selection is small but creative. We all ordered a different menu item and every one was more than pleased with their meal. The appetizers were not the usual line up so we tried a few...everyone... More

I had a get together here with friends. Everything was wonderful! The food, the service, the atmosphere -- all fantastic. Two of us had the rib eye which is just as good as the best steakhouse. The calamari appetizer is delish. And my celiac friend loved her gluten free pasta. The wine choices are superb and yes, their tiramisu is... More

Food was great. Waiter and waitress were very nice. As for the front man, maybe he thinks his loud, brash, obnoxious disposition is personable. It is NOT. He needs to be a bit easier with customers and not lie to them about reservations and seating. I won't go into the whole story, but he definitely put a damper on the... More

We sincerley apologize for one person's attitude. If you were two people for dinner and had a table for two in the garden yet wanted to sit at a table reserved for four it is a very difficult thing to accomodate if we are projected to have be full in the GARDEN. When people cancel or "NO Show" it is... More

Best restaurant experience I've had in NYC! Close to the Flatiron, and lots of transportation options a block away... Service was professional and attentive from delivery of bread and water to the table to our very enjoyable dessert. We used a restaurant.com gift certificate, which gave us a discount on our meal, but even without a discount, the food is... More

Well, thank you so much for the kind words. It is so nice to hear good things from Happy People. We all have families and lives that we try to support and live, yet the restaurant business takes us away from it all for such a long period of time. You have made our day and made it all worth... Thank You for the honest and kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the meal and had time to get to your event. Sorry, we are located a little out of the way, but most clients like that we are a destination place and quiet. Please try to come back. More

I had an early dinner at Aleo with a friend. We shared a salad, the Gamberetto and flatbread pizza. Everything was well prepared and tasted great. Service was good.

It was lunch, middle of the week...Only 3 tables counting us. We sat in the backyard, which is perfect in the summer. The waiter never brought us bread ( it's an italian restaurant Hellooo!!), the other tables had it. I was really thirsty ( it was hot) but the waiter came every now and then to refill my glass. He... As the owner, I wish to thank you for your honest and perceptive review. The server you mentioned is actually a terrific and positive person with a vibrant personality. As the owner, I probably should have given him that day off, since I knew he was in pain with a severe tooth ache. I assure you if you return and... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
