Wow.

Imagine a Christmas-themed drag queen explosion. That's the only way I can describe the decor in Milon Bangladesh. The food is decent, and the service is mediocre, but the experience is worth it. They occasionally turn off the lights and have a little party moment throughout your dining... read more

This is the first Indian restaurant that I tried in 1980 and it's still as popular and even more dazzling now. I'm talking about the decor, which is a crazy world of blinking lights and color. The food is quite satisfying, the service professional and attentive. A party atmosphere reigns, especially nice if you are having a birthday.

The food was really good, but this place really wins on the atmosphere! This is by far one of the most fun places i've ever eaten. A really great experiance. Bring your own drinks.

If you are looking for a psychedelic experience this is the place. Reservations are recommended although they do not mean much, and they do not serve alcohol so it is BYOB. Besides this, the vibe is fun and colorful, although the place is always packed and loud. Also and most importantly, the food is VERY good so it is totally... More

One night I walked past this place and thought it looked so bizarre I had to eat there, whatever they were serving! So a couple weeks later, I went with two Brits who know their curry. What a disappointment. It's very cool and crazy looking inside, but the food fell entirely flat. It lacked extremely lacked flavor. I would have... More

The best thing of the restaurant is the food.. The second best is the very attractive all-red atmosphere that will transport you to a birthday party. Do not go expecting an intimate or romanticatmoaphere - unless you can be very creative in which case you will find it indeed romantic. It is ideal for celebrations. No alcohol is served so... More

Been heading to 1st & 6th Avenues for years for Indian food. While there are more classier and finer establishments, this is one that's the most fun and enjoyment. I love this place. It's always a great experience. If you try walking through the place standing up, and you're taller than 5'5", than you're head skims through all the hanging... More

absolutely friendly service, amazing food and unforgetable ambiance and decor. You cannot miss Milon, one of my favorites restaurants in NY. the food is really excellent and the prices aboslutely affordable. My friends from Milon are the best! Be careful!!: when you arrive, the hostess from the next restaurant Pana II try to encourage you to go there saying that... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
