Bland, but worth a visit

I would go for the ambiance alone. I ordered paneer (masala I think). It wasn't as flavorful as I am used to, which might be used to appeal to the masses who couldn't handle real flavor and spice. Otherwise, I enjoyed my experience there and as everyone says, make sure you go to the one on the top... read more

Once you locate the place, you will be asked to enter other similar restaurants, don't get fooled. The waiters from these restaurants are waiting by the door in order to win customers over. Milon is quite small, but as soon as you enter that door, you get transported to another world. Truly a great out of the box experience.

This place was great. But it's the top left the four Indian restaurants that are in a square. So make sure you go to the one on then top left. According to friends of mine it used to be more insane and they got rid of some stuff believe it or not. Had vegetable madras and nan. Other parties had... More

This was selected because it had better reviews than most near 6th street. We went on a slow Sunday and had a great meal. With the special, it was a good deal as well. We both went in despite the somewhat garish "holiday" decor. It quickly grew on us. We shared dishes, which included nan, chicken tandoori, shrimp, and basmati... More

Place is fun - great atmosphere, lights everywhere you look, the birthday celebrations are very festive. Cramped space and seriously if someone is not svelte they will be unhappy and bumped into frequently. My friends were complaining that the chairs were too small for them (they are average sized people). Food was okay - I found it bland, but the... More

the food was mediocre but definitely not bad, so going for the atmosphere and for a relatively cheap meal is definitely worth it.

Can't believe I hadn't eaten here with all the time I've spent in NYC! It was small and crowded and loud and full of lights and amazing energy and the service was friendly and fast! Plus...great Indian food! BYOB and cash only, so be prepared. I highly recommend this dining experience for friends, couples, and special fun occasions! What a... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
