1954 Fuji Sushi is the First Japanese Restaurant in NY City, one of the firsts in the United States. Designed with attention to details normally reserved for sculptures, Fuji is elegant without being stodgy. The Japanese Cuisine is so good it lives up to the legend inspiring gallant decor. You don’t have to travel half way around the world to immerse yourselves in far away cultures. You can partake in Fuji's unique pleasures of creative sushi and a mix of traditional and modern Japanese entrees. This incredibly stylish restaurant, bar and joint set the tone of modern day Zen Ambiance.

Tasty Japanese

We were tired and jaded after flying in. We both ordered Chicken Katsu which was absolutely delicious. We saw other meals delivered and they all looked good.

It's pleasant, but nothing is special here. The food is fine, but ordinary. The service is friendly. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. I think it's just okay in every way, but it's not great food at all. It's not expensive and it's quick, if you're looking for that. Everything about it is average.

It was near the hotel, which was the only good thing about it. It turned out to be a bog-standard Japanese restaurant that can be found all over the US. Should have checked TripAdvisor first. Sorry Fuji Sushi.

Excellence in service and food quality. It is also very amazing that they have lasted from 1954 till now. Yellow tail and white tuna are my unsatiable urge! So fresh and well tendered!

Bento is $15, but really not good. We love Japanese food, and thought Japanese food in New York will be better than PA or IL, but guess not. Worst Japanese food we had in USA. Will definitely not be back even when the service is good. For the price, the food is lousy so it is not value for money... More

I visited with my two teenage daughters on our recent trip to NYC. This was a nice find and we will most likely return our next trip to the city. Food was fresh, tasty, and very nicely prepared/displayed. Location was easy to find. Service was good but we were early in the evening.

We both enjoyed our dishes at lunch... very inexpensive: a lunch special roll and a bento box, with hot green tea, for under 30 bucks. Loved the quality of the sushi & sashimi ...

I am coming here for years and seen it through three generations of owners. It is medium size restaurant with simple decor and great food. I usually leave to the sushi master to choose what ever he want and EVERY TIME it is simply fantastic ,fresh Delicious and beautifully presented. In my view the food is comparable to some top... A very good deal. I found this restaurant on this guide and I chose it for the strategical position, close to the Broadway theater district. The restaurant looks a little bit dark inside, but here you can find a large choice of good Japanese food, the sushi appetizers and the maki sushi rools were great, and the tempura I ordered... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
