Never got the full meal. Could not get the waiters attention to get our Mac and cheese or yams. Took over 50 minutes to pay the bill. Not going to be a family tradition. Save your time and money.

We had heard about this restaurant on the Masterchef series and thought it sounded good. Sylvia's serves traditional soul food which we have not had before. When we arrived we were given some cornbread which was sweet but really nice, we ordered chicken livers to start, they were delicious. We shared two dishes, they put this on one plate which... More

I visited Sylvia's for the first time last week. The food was amazing. As soon as we sat down, a basket of delicious warm corn bread was placed in front of us. The starters were amazing, I personally recommend the coconut shrimp. The service was good and the waitress was kind enough to give me a replacement dessert after noticing... More

......Its good enough for me! Our family visit to this much vaunted 'must-go-to' Harlem eaterie was enjoyable and one that we will want to repeat. Without a reservation on a busy day, the efficient restaurant management soon organised a table for us in one of the adjoining dining rooms where there was a jazz trio playing at one end, and... I have been to Sylvia's before and the food is always good but what impressed me this time is their move to making us think about how much we're eating. In conjunction with one of the area hospitals,Sylvias is trying this program.... before you even start eating, ask the waitress for a container and put half away, so that you... More

Being from South Carolina which is where Sylvia grew up we had to try this restaurant! The food was delicious and "true" soul or country cooking and I should know since I have lived in the south my whole life! The best fried pork chops ever and I was not ashamed to pick up the bone and gnaw all the... More

Not only was the food great, so was the service. We dined for a late lunch and ordered nearly everything on the menu....our breakfast, lunch and dinner. Keep in mind there were only two of us: fried catfish, fried chicken fingers, smoothered pork chop, fried pork chop, meatloaf special, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, greens, mac 'n cheese, double order of... Maybe because some friends talked me so good about Sylvia's, I was a little disappointed. Lots of people, each table too close to others. Food was just ok, not excellent, and waiters looked too busy, not really kind. Finally, I found it a little expensive according to the service and food quality
