We stopped for lunch and were amazed by the food, the decor and the service. We sat on the cushion seats at the window. I must warn you, it is difficult to get in and out of these and then when you sit, your legs must be kept straight it becomes a challenge not to get tangled with the person... More

For those of us who do not know very much about Persian or Afghan cuisine, this place was a pleasant and welcoming find. The attentive staff kindly helped us navigate the varied menu. We had the five course meat dinner for two and experienced a wide variety of interesting and delicious dishes. Featuring soup, salad, appetizer, choice of entree and... More

Flavorful and delicious food. Pumpkin turnovers were awesome. Noodle with red kidney bean sauce was great as well.

I love the decor theme of the restaurant but found it to be dark, shabby and less than clean. If my daughter hadn't eaten here many times before I would not have stayed. We sat along the windows on carpet covered cushions where the people watching is great, though not recommend seating for older, less fit people. The mixed drink... More

This was my second favourite restaurant in New York City after the counter but if you fancy a proper meal this is the place to go. The food is Afghani and tastes very similar to Iranian food. The service was quick and I loved the taste combinations. I would eat here again and for me made a nice change from... More

Ate here last night with my husband and it was just okay. The wine we asked for was available by the glass only and not by the bottle, which we found interesting as it was listed on the wine list as glass or bottle. Apparently they wanted us to buy a more expensive bottle, which we ended up doing. We... More

Good, inexpensive Afghan with a look from the 60's. Kabuli Palau is great and lots of tasty appetizers. A little cramped but you get used to it. Tasty food.

We have been going to this restaurant since 2000, and it remains as good now as it was then. Since Afghanistan borders five countries, its cuisine is influenced by Indian (Pakistani), middle Eastern (Irani), Chinese, and Russian (three "stans"--Uzbeki, Tajiki, and Turkmeni) food--deliciously so. We have tried many items on the menu and never been disappointed. Pleasant service and an... More

This place was horrible compared to other Afghan Restaurant. I am surprised people eat here. The appetizers bolanee over cooked. No potatoe inside. The Mantoo was disgusting the meat inside stuck together and came out from the dumpling skin. No yogurt sauce. The lamb curry was watery and was too spicy to be Afghani. It had like Pakistani Masala in... More
