Rustic Cafe, Very Slow Service

Pick Me Up cafe has that whole East Village, low key vintage style interiors going on. With tables on the pavement and an open airy space, it is a relaxing spot for brunch. However there were just two waitresses running around trying to serve everyone and make coffee and clear tables - to say that... read more

Went here for brunch with 2 friends. Two of us ordered waters and the other oj. Oj came out and it was watered down. We got our food and 2 of us were still waiting on water. I asked our waitress if we could get water as she was passing by. Wasn't sure if she heard us because I wasn't... More

What a nice little restaurant with cozy tables and a great menu. Unfortunately the staff and food is not that great. Our waitress was not on top of things. It tooks us forever to get our waters. We even ordered and had our meals and still didn't have our drinks. The eggs were over cooked and the bagels and english... More

I left NYC two weeks ago after staying there with my family for a week. Almost every morning we had breakfast as Cafe Pick me Up. The staff is so nice and there's such a calm laid-back atmosphere at this place. Food-wise I've nothing to complain about either - I was able to adjust my dishes so I could have... More

The interior is nice with lots of little pockets to sit in and get absorbed in work/your book. The coffee was good but ask for extra shots so you can taste the coffee! Cabinet food we had (blueberry muffin and magic slice) were both great!

Nice place for breakfast in Eastvillage, great music of the 70th, good quality breakfast but for us bit too expensive for the quantity served. Personally looked forward to American pancakes but they are not on the menu.

We stopped at the Cafe' as it looked very interesting on the decor point of view. We were three people and ordered very simple food: a tuna carpaccio plate, a mozzarella and tomato sandwich, which came with a salad, a apricot croissant, a iced caffe' latte and two iced teas. The beverages and the croissant came right away. For the... More

Ordered breakfast for two with coffee. Took about 30 minutes with only five tables occupied. Coffee was cold. Nice location and ambience in area, service was terrible, food mediocre. Better choices abound in area

Great little place, overlooking Tompkins Square, in the midst of all the hip that is now the East Village... Great coffee and good, friendly service.. I ordered a Bellini and some eggs and they were great. The sun was entering through the windows, good music was playing, yes, it is groovy and cool and nice!

They use Lavazza and it blows anything else away, nice atmosphere and plenty of room to sit and not be crowded

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
