Best Greek Food in NYC

We've been here a couple of times now and it's become our 'must visit' greek restaurants when visiting New York. Quaint location in the East Village; excellent authentic greek cuisine that never disappoints. You'll need a reservation! Enjoy.

Went out for a party with friends, I did not choose the restaurant but found it to be very elegant, which surprised me since we were in the Village. From the outside the ceiling looked like it was covered with giant elbow pasta, but come to find out they are ceramic bowls. We decided to get appetizers for the table... More

One of the best Greeks in town full of Greek restaurants. Best food for the money without breaking the bank.

I've been to Pylos once years ago and had a good experience. With just so many places to try in the city, repeat visits don't often happen. Totally regretting that for this place though. My girlfriend wanted to come here for her birthday dinner and of course we all happily obliged. It ended up being an incredible meal from start... More

Had dinner here with my wife and kids recently. Tables are close together and the restaurant is loud, so it might not be for everybody. That said, the food was really good. lots of variety, large portions and nicely presented. We grossly over ordered as a consequence of portion sizes. Wine list was Greek wines only and our friendly and... More

This was the perfect spot for and Easter Sunday brunch. Don't wait so long in life, as I had, to try pastitsio, a lasagna-like Greek dish with bechamel sauce. Also excellent was a chicken-lemon-orzo soup that we ahd with a glass of dry white Greek wine. You have to envy those people who can just walk to this great neighborhood... More

Was recommended to check out Pylos and with very high praise. Was not impressed and actually was surprised that it was just okay. It did feel like a big let down after all the great reviews and build up. Food was just so so. The place itself is very cozy and welcoming. The service I must say was great and... More

I hadn't been back to this restaurant in ten years which was a mistake. I remember a good meal then, but the food has even gotten better. Everything my group of three ate was wonderful. Even my finicky Greek friend commented that the food was quite good. I have been to many of the Greek restaurants in NY, and this... More

My friend and I were not in the East Village to try Pylos, but to go to another restaurant. However, there was a 2 hour wait so we walked around looking for any other places we could find to have dinner on a Friday night. We encountered Pylos, and decided to go in; we thought there was going to be... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
