Wonderful, healthy Greek food

A charming, authentic, delicious restaurant. The food is superb. The Horiatiki salad was outstanding. Featuring the tastiest small tomatoes I ever tasted in winter, it was well-balanced, attractive and healthy. The chef fried some thin slices of eggplant and zucchini for an off-menu second half... read more

A charming, authentic, delicious restaurant. The food is superb. The Horiatiki salad was outstanding. Featuring the tastiest small tomatoes I ever tasted in winter, it was well-balanced, attractive and healthy. The chef fried some thin slices of eggplant and zucchini for an off-menu second half to my vegetarian lunch, along with a glass of very good Assyrtiko. Even the pita... More

This restaurant was delicious. We had the greek salad and dippings, which were amazing. For dinner I had the Branzini- which was equally as delicious. Can't wait to visit again !

If you want high quality Greek food in a nice setting, at a reasonable cost, then Pylos is an excellent place....and don't shy away from the great Greek wines.....ask the servers for their suggestions if not familiar.

Had dinner here with my sister and my nephew. The food was very good as was the service. I had the short ribs and would definitely have them again. They also had a nice wine list. I would recommend a reservation.

We had lunch today at Pylos. We ventured into this place from a Zagat recommendation. This place is a little far afield from mid town, but worth the cab/Uber fare. We ordered the Greek "Village" salad. This is Greek style without the lettuce. The flavor was perfect. Plenty of tomatoes, cucumbers and Feta. They could add more red onions to... More

Very good Greek food in a cozy, east village eatery.....a really great assortment of appetizers (smaller plates) as well as a surprisingly broad selection of main courses. Particularly good: htapothi scharas (grilled octopus); anginares moussaka (moussaka with fresh artichoke); oikilia (three spreads: tzatziki (yorgurt); taramasalata (fish roe); and, melitzanosalata (eggplant). The main courses (fish, salads or meat dishes) are large... More

The restaurant is located in a neighborhood which was difficult to Find. Our taxi even dropped us off in the wrong block and we walked for 15 minutes. The imaps isn't accurate either. However after making a call to them we arrived and were met with warm greetings and fabulous food. The mini lamb chops were outstanding and the red... More

Excellent food and thoughtful engaging service by a sweet young Lady. Read earlier reviews of poor service. My experience was polar opposite. As most places are closed on Thanksgiving we inquired. The waitress gave a detailed and written description of the Thanksgiving menu. Why go to the Midtown Greek restaurant ??? My favorite was the filet of sea bass entree... More

We couldn't get a reservation for our party of 3, hubby joining us late. But we went in anyway for party of 2, ordered hubby's to go and they let him sit down and have his before relinquishing the table an hour and 1/2 later. Great food

We were 3 celebrating my sons birthday late on a sunday evening. Place was full when we got there. All the food we ate was very enjoyable. The Greek salad was excellent. Short Ribs were dry. All the fish we had was good especially the salmon. Service was tired and the entrees took quite a while to come out of... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
