The lamb short ribs were excellently cooked. I also tasted the lamb chop and it was also excellent. I've been in Europe for a few years and while the food was very good, I didn't get much of a "Greek" feel from this restaurant. The appetizers and seemed a bit eclectic, but again, the food was good. I will probably... More

Pylos was such a nice surprise. For a Monday night, they were booked solid and our group of three couldn't get a reservation. We were told that they have a communal table as an option for walk ins and we decided to give that a shot. From the outside Pylos didn't look like much but once you're inside, the place... More

Great food, great atmosphere. 5 people including 1 glass of whine and 1 beer less than 200$ . Great value for money.

We've been here a couple of times now and it's become our 'must visit' greek restaurants when visiting New York. Quaint location in the East Village; excellent authentic greek cuisine that never disappoints. You'll need a reservation! Enjoy.

Went out for a party with friends, I did not choose the restaurant but found it to be very elegant, which surprised me since we were in the Village. From the outside the ceiling looked like it was covered with giant elbow pasta, but come to find out they are ceramic bowls. We decided to get appetizers for the table... More

One of the best Greeks in town full of Greek restaurants. Best food for the money without breaking the bank.

I've been to Pylos once years ago and had a good experience. With just so many places to try in the city, repeat visits don't often happen. Totally regretting that for this place though. My girlfriend wanted to come here for her birthday dinner and of course we all happily obliged. It ended up being an incredible meal from start... More

Had dinner here with my wife and kids recently. Tables are close together and the restaurant is loud, so it might not be for everybody. That said, the food was really good. lots of variety, large portions and nicely presented. We grossly over ordered as a consequence of portion sizes. Wine list was Greek wines only and our friendly and... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
