I usually resent restaurants that cost a few arms and legs and then serve tiny, pretty portions. Not so with WD 50. I desperately wait for a reason to go to WD 50 every year. Everything about the food and drink is amazing. Tastes explode in your mouth. It is truly like tasting delicious art. The cocktails are amazingly creative.... More

We liked this restaurant as it has an edgy vibe. With Michelin star restaurants you tend to assume that everything will be traditional and stuffy, however this restaurant comes across as raw and edgy. Staff were very knowledgeable and we were given a kitchen tour which was a great experience. Sad to hear that it is to close, hopefully it... More

Wd~50 in Manhattan's Lower East Side is the brainchild of chef Wylie Dufresne. One of the pioneers of modern food in NY - he’s worked in some of NY's top restaurants like Jean Georges and 71 Clinton Fresh Food. Occupying what was used to be a bodega, wd~50 has been at the forefront of NY dining for over ten years.... More

I really wanted to like this place, given the celebrity chef and the hype. The 12 course tasting menu looks better than it tastes. The presentation is excellent. The best part of the meal may have been the dessert. The staff was very friendly and explained each course in a passionate way. At $155 per person the celeb chef should... More

I wrote "beautiful" in the title of my review because the food and presentation were truly artistically beautiful. This little restaurant is hidden away in the lower East Side of NYC, very minimalistic, especially the exterior because you would not think by looking at the outside that this is a very upscale restaurant. But it is! Open the door and... More

We did the 12 course with wine pairing. Each course is just a couple of bites so even though it seems like a lot of food it is well worth the tiny bites of amazing bits and bobs crafted into art on a plate. I do hope that WD will open another restaurant after closing WD-50 this November. It would... More

I guess 'food' over my palate...portions tiny, hostess rude (even for native NYer) and service indifferent

Spent $450 for a less than average meal. The building was not nice enough for the price. Waiter began sweeping and cleaning up to leave when we were still eating and another couple just sat. I hate to sound negative but the food was a joke.

We were excited to come here and booked a long way in advance but we left feeling bewildered. We had the "short" tasting menu. It really didn't work. I've tried molecular gastronomy before and I love the exciting textures and intense flavours. This menu had too many jarring / overlapping tastes and flavours in each dish. The sweetbreads to start... More

We enjoyed the 15 course with wine tasting very much. My friend thought the desserts had too much sugar though. The dishes were small but the wine was very generous. It is a good idea to not go on an empty stomach as I foolishly did. The wine will get to you so take your time! The artistry of the... More
