If you haven't eaten here you should.

This is a great neighbourhood Cafe. The food is great and it is a fun place to be for an hour or so. The long lineups that happen on a Sunday for lunch time say it all. You are never rushed though. Their mint tea is great. One of my favourite places.

We visited Mogador on a trip to New York for my 40th birthday, we decided to have a night out in the East village and stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant. When we entered it was busy but the staff were very welcoming, we were told it might be 30 mins for a table which was fine. We... More

i am a local new yorker and love cafe mogador -have been going here for at least 20 years. service is always very good although the place can get quite packed and staff gets slammed but everyone is always friendly. food is always super fresh with fantastic salads always with home-made salad dressings. the brunch scene can get really crazy... Our family of 6 came here for our New Year's brunch on Jan. 1. We were greeted in a friendly manner & seated fairly quickly. We ordered our drinks, which arrived quickly and the Turkish coffee and lattes were delicious. Unfortunately, that's where the good experience ended. When it came to ordering food, we encountered the most awful, unaccommodating place... More

We had a group of 7 and we all loved the food. We shared an appetizer being bread with Roasted eggplant & Tahini, Spicy carrot and Cucumber yoghurt. Yum! In separate meals we then had chicken & lamb grill, chicken & lamb tangines and Chicken cous-cous. Again, very, very yummy. The apricot and prunes worked really well with the tangines.... More

A neighbourhood restaurant that we visited for brunch. Wonderful homely atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff. Plates stacked with pancakes; eggs, home fries and bacon; granola and yogurt; and eggs benedict. Freshly squeezed orange and coffee. $100 including tip for five. Many thanks.

Great comfortable space on a rainy day - food was very tasty (appetizer plate, chicken kebob sandwich, they have gluten free bread), they make good cocktails and the service was friendly and attentive. Could not have asked for more.

Delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner or just a stop over for dessert. Like dining in a neighbor's garden. Wait staff is charming and willing to please. Moroccan was never tastier!

Had a delicious supper here a few nights ago, a first visit for me. I'd read how it's often packed and even before 6 pm on a week night, there were plenty of people eating. The food is fresh, perfectly cooked, nicely presented, large portions. I tried several appetizers which were all excellent, the babaganoush was particularly good. The lamb... More

This is the second time I've eaten in this restaurant. Went there on a recent trip to see friends in NYC. Appetizers are yummy - esp. the spicy carrots. Tabouli is also fabulous. Anything lamb - they know how to cook lamb! I've had two different types of Tagines: the spicy green sauce and the sauce with raisins and I... More

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
