very good

Had a great meal, don't hesitate to ask for more bread, it's not charged and the initial portion is small. Very enjoyable, a great find, would go again.

Chanced upon this place having wandered from accommodation 2 blocks away - what a great find. Went in based on the menu outside with no previous knowledge .. everything was great - fresh food - mostly european feel & clean & non-fatty. Falafel sandwich amonts best I've had ... and the pancakes my some had were really nice and felt... More

Went here based on lonely planets NYC guide for Sunday brunch. Arrived about 12 when place was full, but being only 2 persons we managed to get a table outside in the heat. Pros: friendliest staff ever, great brunch with several alternatives, good price, clean, popular, sunny terrace or air-conditioned inside. Real gem.

We were a party of eight and had a delightful meal and experience at this gem of a restaurant. It was a busy Sunday evening and we called ahead and were given a table in 45 minutes. The food was authentic, tasty and very reasonably priced and is in a lovely neighborhood. The hummus falafel platter was the best I have... More

Had a lovely brunch here on a weekend and it was not crowded. I had a delicious omelet with goat cheese, tomatoes and spinach. My husband took the light route with granola, fruit and yogurt. Prices were reasonable and the sidewalk table on a sunny summer morning was perfect.

A unique dining experience in the heart of Manhattan. A bit off the beaten track - but worth seeking out. The best mix of Mediterranean food I've ever had. They have a fair amount of protein and starch dishes - as well as vegetarian options. I was a little bummed that the wine selection was so shallow and they don't... More

New York is an amazing city with respect to the choice of food. We can eat basically anything. When passing by Cafe Mogador and reading the menu, I had a sudden taste for Tajine. I was not disappointed. Portion was large, the meat (lamb) was tender, slow cooked and excellent. The restaurant is big, there are a lot of people... More

This place always has a wait so keep that in mind when you visit. Also know however, that it is well worth it. Everything on their menu is delicious but their tangine section is simply divine. I start craving it every time I talk about it. I think I've had the Chicken tangine with lemon and olives some 10 times... More

I highly recommend the Bastilla. Very unusual..... at least for me... and delicious. The Merguez..also great. Good service. They do not have anything pre cooked so you will have to wait for your food. Do not worry it is worth every minute. Highly recommend.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
