Great oriental food

New York is an amazing city with respect to the choice of food. We can eat basically anything. When passing by Cafe Mogador and reading the menu, I had a sudden taste for Tajine. I was not disappointed. Portion was large, the meat (lamb) was tender, slow cooked and excellent. The restaurant is big... read more

This place always has a wait so keep that in mind when you visit. Also know however, that it is well worth it. Everything on their menu is delicious but their tangine section is simply divine. I start craving it every time I talk about it. I think I've had the Chicken tangine with lemon and olives some 10 times... More

I highly recommend the Bastilla. Very unusual..... at least for me... and delicious. The Merguez..also great. Good service. They do not have anything pre cooked so you will have to wait for your food. Do not worry it is worth every minute. Highly recommend.

We were there for brunch on a Saturday morning and loved what we ordered. Also the cappuccino tasted like a good italian one.

A friend recommended Mogador Cafe to me; I enjoyed my experience! Started off at the bar waiting for my other guest to arrive. Nice drink and wine menu. Once seated, I opted for: - Roasted Cauliflower with Spelt Berries & Preserved Lemon, served over sheep’s milk yogurt - Vegetable Tagine with crispy okra, served with herbed couscous Both tasted amazing!... Certainly a very authentic cuisine even though the décor is more East Village. The prices are very fair for New York and for this quality. Staff tries hard to give the best service however, this place is packed and they did an amazing job all things considered. Eat early to avoid the crowd and if you have hearing aids as... More

It was well worth it. I had the Mediterranean eggs Benedict which was cooked perfect. Typically I don't finish the home fries but these were devoured. Also, the mimosas are surprising small so beware.

Stopped for a quick lunch after being recommended this by a friend. Very good espresso, coupled with a goats cheese and walnut salad, and a mushroom/herb omelette - excellent value and great fresh food. Definitely worth a visit and one we'll return to on future visits.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
