This review could really be a 3 or 4 star outcome, depending on a few factors, but I wish to err on the generous side today. The food is solid, and our waitress owns that dining room. She explains, in detail, what the offerings are, like she actually made the food, how everything's prepared, and is quite efficient and friendly.... More

We arrived in NYC around 7:30 and wanted something to eat. Found this place and it did not look crowded. We ordered and within 10 minutes, people were placed right next to us. It seemed a very popular place all of a sudden. We could not get out from our table without help because of the cramped quarters. I had... More

What a wonderful discovery this place was! The food - delicious. We were a group of 6 and went about it family style so tried a lot of items from the menu. Did not find anything that was not great. Good quality ingredients, well prepared, well presented. The atmosphere - it is a small place so feels very intimate. Nice... More

This restaurant is off the regular track, but it is worth the detour to 1st Avenue/1st Street. The menu and wine list is well balanced, if just slightly pricy in relation to the objective offering. It is popular, especially at weekends, but service standards are high. Tables are quite closely packed but the noise level is tolerable (increasingly problematic in... More

A delightful surprise in an unlikely setting. Cannot lavish sufficient superlatives on the quality of the food served in this quiet, small bistro, with quiet, competent and friendly service and a fair price.

I completely agree with the reviewers who laud the French onion soup. It was the best I have had in a long time. The rest of the menu is consistent and solid French fare. (Apparently the menu never changes.) The mustard sauce on the rabbit and pasta dish is very well conceived and executed. The tables are exceedingly but pleasantly... More

We popped in for drinks on our way home. Great vibe, very friendly staff. Definitely one of our favourite bars in the area.

Rendezvoused hear with one of my best mates who I had not seen for two years. First best thing - Kronenburg beer available (my favourite 2013 beer) - but of course it is because it is a French restaurant. I had not eaten much and it was late afternoon - but the French onion soup was amazing. So much so... More

Although we did have a reservation (admittedly for a rather large group of people), we ended up waiting for half an hour for our table. Because it is a small (tiny?) place, we sat rather "intimately" next to each other. I had no hors d'oeuvre, a steak with pommes frites, and a flowerless chocolate cake. My impression: nothing truly special;... More

Having seen some lovely French bistros close over the years was thrilled to have experienced Lucien. I am a big duck fan and theirs was beyond expectation. Low key and attentive staff.
