Inexpensive, and hits the spot when you want a little something!

Crif Dogs has a creative menu with clever names for different styles of hot dogs. They also have a veggie hotdog option which I had, and it was really good. They also have burgers, fries, shakes, and beer. If you're visiting New York and exploring, and you just want something cheap, yet... read more

Roll the dice and try the surprise combos. You'll love it! Would never have ordered a peanut butter and crushed potato chips hotdog, but it was excellent.

So much to love about crif dogs. The recommendation of adding crispy bacon to my dog was very well received! The John John dog was full of flavour with the perfect amount of heat. This is a great little place for a great quick bite.

After a night at Please Don't Tell, we got more eats at Crif Dog. Their hotdogs manage to be gourmet but not overcomplicated in a really casual relaxed space. Well, kinda relaxed: there are usually a few people anxiously standing around hoping to get into the great bar through the telephone booth. Despite the crowds, we chumped down on some... More

Hot dogs AND veggie dogs! With all the toppings you could want! Good God, this place is good. Awesome atmosphere too! And, if you're feeling flush and have a sense of adventure (and LOVE cocktails), don't forget to go into the phone booth, pick up the receiver and dial as per the instructions...

This joint has the coolest hotdogs in the world. Very cool toppings. The fact that they wrap the dogs in bacon then deep fry them makes it even better! If you're in NYC, it's a must!

The menu is expansive with a great selection of different types of dogs. I really enjoyed my bacon-wrapped Crifdog with lettuce and tomato. The Miller Highlife went really well with the dog. I will be going back anytime I am down in the Village.

Recommended to us by a local after advising them we were going to eat a dog from a vender and hurriedly sent us the details for Crif Dogs. Walking along an unusual surburban street not expecting to find it and when getting there, from the outside view. we were still had some doubts. So glad we went in, staff really... More

NYC has some of the best food found anywhere, period. That being said, a lot of these food establishments are tucked away in a crammed, packed, uninviting (from the outside) locations. This makes them that much better. The grungy look from the outside was right up my alley. Walk in and check out the most unique and crazy hotdog concoctions... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
